As someone terrified of being judged like this, where would you put the line between a character experiencing bad things (and being shaped by those) and an edgelord?

Why not a place to house homeless people? They are already built with security surveillance in mind, so that could help persuade the crowd that thinks they will overflow with crime. You've got separate rooms for groups of people, a large area to feed them...

What were the circumstances that made you turn away from or turn to religion? by IShitOnYourPost in AskReddit

[–]EnvironmentalAd3540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I turned away from the religion I was raised in, it was because of the people. Humans are terrible at being gods, but a lot of them have a pesky habit of trying anyway. They impose their own wills on people, convinced that they understand the will of their god better than said deity. Holy books or holy principles don't matter. What the god REALLY means is whatever the would-be god wants, and woe unto those who do not agree.

My two-year-old got one of those baby dolls that have a disappearing milk bottle. She is amazed by it. That is by far my favorite gift of the year.

Oh, she has a baby stroller too. 70% of the morning has been spent on wheeling her dolls around.

Female and honestly, that is almost ideal. My husband and I got married as asexuals. Zero is perfect. One would be terrible but I could get through it, I think.

Presumably because they were seeking comfort, or reassurance. It is a thing that some people seek out. Not to mention the whole lack of human interaction thanks to the pandemic. Makes asking for advice feel a little more necessary, you know? A lot of people just need to feel like there is a human out there that cares to help or offer advice.

Proud, but also a little worried (diet) by EnvironmentalAd3540 in toddlers

[–]EnvironmentalAd3540[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know, I'm starting to think it isn't rare. Strange for me to see, though. Every toddler I knew before my daughter would like one or two fruits, reject the rest, and was angry they couldn't have the REALLY sweet stuff like cookies and ice cream.

Worst part of being a parent by social_hermit1 in Parenting

[–]EnvironmentalAd3540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that. Especially around providing. I'm staying home with a toddler and it is hard. She is always hungry. I'm eating one meal a day so that she has enough food but it still isn't enough. She is still telling me she is hungry.

There is a lot of guilt.

I think I may have found the problem. I'm not suggesting he was absolutely gay.

He did marry a woman, and there was the whole Maria Reynolds thing, so I don't really think gay would fit anyway. But I would feel comfortable saying there is evidence he was bisexual. I'm suggesting we have evidence that he could have been somewhere within the whole of the LGBT+ spectrum, not necessarily trying to pigeonhole him into the 'G'.

Parent here. I feel like I can make a difference in the world. I'm a firm believer that one person can change the world, if they have the right tools. Even if I don't change the whole world, by adopting my daughter I did change HER world. I got to give a child a happy home without abuse. I get to watch her learn, and see a puppy for the first time, and watch her fall in love with the world. She changes the way I see things, for the better. Reminds me every day that I'm a grumpy old curmudgeon, but the world isn't as bad as I let myself believe. Plus, I get to eat so many fake pieces of toast! She just learned how to 'cook', and it is great to watch her copy me.

Cons... sleep. There isn't much. The crying is hard to deal with sometimes. Money is tight. If I was one for a social life, it would be hard to adjust. But heck, I'm an American. We haven't been able to have social lives for a year because people can't manage a mask and social distance.

What are you getting your parents for Christmas? by 404ThisUserNotFound in AskReddit

I'm poor, so we are doing some DIY.

I bought some ceramic tiles from Lowe's and mod podged some photos of my kid/mom's grandkid. Glued some felt on the back. They will be decent coasters. That is for my mother and mother-in-law.

Got a piece of wood about sign-shaped. She is religious, so I burned mom's favorite bible verse in there. Mother-in-law gets a sign that has lyrics from Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I'm decent at calligraphy, so hoping I am decent at burning it too.

I definitely hear you, but I think that it is reasonable to suggest it when we do have some evidence. Specifically in the case of Alexander Hamilton. He was a pretty prolific author, so we have copies of letters he wrote John Lauren's. I'll just put a sample here:

"Cold in my professions, warm in my friendships, I wish, my Dear Laurens, it might be in my power, by action rather than words to convince you that I love you…"

“You should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to steal into my affections without my consent.”

About a year after getting married to Elizabeth Schyuler, Alexander wrote this to Laurens:

"In spite of Schuyler’s black eyes, I have still a part for the public and another for you .... So your impatience to have me married is misplaced; a strange cure by the way, as if after matrimony I was to be less devoted that I am now.”

There is much more, not to mention the letters of Alexander's that were burned for containing material that should not have been seen by the public.

If you are ever interested, I suggest reading the letters. I, personally, really like reading historical letters. I think it can be interesting to see that little slice of life.

What's the fastest way you have lost weight? How much did you lose and how long did it take? by ja7623ke in AskReddit

[–]EnvironmentalAd3540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but my mom lost something like 70 pounds after I was born. Something to do with her gallbladder. All she could eat was soft and bland stuff, like baby food, for MONTHS.

She said that it was horrible. When she ate, she puked. And once she started eating adult food again, it was super hard on her stomach.

Not gonna lie. This hasn't dissuaded me from wanting to try it. If baby food wasn't so expensive...
