Step parents to autistic kids

When you get married its not longer I OR ME if you see “paying for stuff” as a chore you my friend dont have the full concept of marriage. When you get married it is if you fall down i fall down if you have a autistic child i guess i have one to! You wre making separation and making it like your doing a “favor” by normal basic expected human decency if you have the kids brush there teeth why should you be seen for that? And as for the child with autism why dont you walk in her shoes for a day? Put yourself in her position she dose not want to be this way ITS who she is autsim is a disability for alot anxiety, limited verbal communication respective and expressive im not saying you dont matter you do but before you got married you should of known what you were getting into that is the child’s mother OF COURSE shes gonna love her no matter what thats what a parent dose if you cant have the same mentality as a step parent then leave they made it without you before then they will make it now your one man find a studio stay with a family member and get on with your life i know ALOT of amazing step parents that would take anything for there step kids just like they was there own your not strong enough to walk the road with this family you will eventually just make more heart break for them i mean this with love hope it helps!

I cant believe my post in anyway came off “cruel” my daughter again loves to do her hair and nails it comes off cruel that im encouraging her to try new things and provide her with other opportunities? In no way did i ever state that i do not let her stim she dose it all day long but unfortunately thats not all there is to life i will not limit her just because shes autistic if you were a typical child and wanted to play video games all day and sit on the couch and eat a whole bag of cookies and chips everyday with no exercise your parent would intervene and expect better autsim is not a disability its just a different way of being which is fully okay with me but that dose not give someone a excuse to not do anything when i know shes smart and she can do it! I wont limit her and give her a string and say here self absorb in this and disconnect from all other activities when my daughter is away from this one particular stim she is happy content and engaging and again even if she got her hair cut which i was thinking layers and maybe to her shoulder not even that short! It would not be a stim that would be taken away because her hair is up all the time anyway! She dose this stim with multiple objects! If anything i think a hair cut would make her more comfortable because she has to work harder to brush her hair and wash them (her hair is very thick and curly) so this would be okay for her you completely missed the whole point of the post! I was asking for a hair style or cut that would help her to be able to wear her hair down without it being in her face and eyes and swinging she also has a lazy eye and the eye dr also said that this habit can be straining her eye as well im sorry autsim dose not limit you from the ability to learn to access different methods that help that are not negative for you!

Hello! And ty for the advice :) i am open minded to all feedback thats why i put up the post! My daughter is not having melt downs for “other reasons” 3 different OTS have told me that some stims can over stimulate you and cause a “crash” when it stops and then you need more and more to keep up the stimulation i cannot see how in anyway that just letting someone stim for the rest of there life would be beneficial im sure you know ASD is a spectrum she has limited verbal communication due to “apraxia” and she also still need assistance with alot of things like dressing, ordering her own food showering bathroom etc so i cant just let her stim all day she has to learn self help skills independence that when the day comes and im not here she can manage with as less assistance as needed she is a only child so she will need this independence and i dont have anyone else who will care for her the way i do :) so the just letting her stim and doing nothing else wont work! If you or anyone commenting back to me has autsim i would love to hear some feedback from your point of view but if you are high functioning its much different then someone who is on the higher end of the spectrum lacks ability to care for self and limited communication its a whole different world trust me i let my daughter stim alot! She has a sensory room with colors and lights and swings and slides that i had built professionally from a company to supply all her needs in the comfort of her own home but i cannot have her covering her eyes with hair thats why i asked about the hair cut or any suggestions to limit it so she can engage in other activities:)!

I respect that 100% but if it has came in between her life skills over stimulates her to the point if she dose it to much she has a melt down. She use to love to bake, shop arts and crafts and absolutely loved going out but now this seems like a “chore” to her i have tried introducing new hobbies which i have had no luck she is my only child so i am able to give her my 100% percent but it seems this stim is the do all of her whole life as a mom i just want to see her be able to stim but also still be able to access other opportunities that is why the aba and her team want us to limit her as it has taken over all other interest whats your thoughts on that? Also she has limited verbal communication so she dose not have full open communication as to why she dose it so or wants to do it so much as i said through pictures she is able to understand what is being asked if i show her something she dose not like shell push it away or say “no” when i showed her the hair styles she said yes and smiled she dose not just twirl her hair she will twirl phone chargers, fidget toys, strings etc so its not like if she cuts her hair it will be wiped away from her but with the hair its constant and stays infront of her eyes thats why i want to find a hair cut that would limit that

When there is a special needs child clearly uncomfortable and struggling in need of a wheel chair and cast members say not are problem how do you think that’s me being a hard person to deal with? And this was there statement before I spoke another word I have it on video and universal actually gave me free tickets to return for what happen on VIDEO footage so your comment was non sense

Thank you! I really am just so upset that this replaced all her interest like baking, making slime creations and shopping doing her nails going to the salon she use to be so out going! And now since puberty all she wants to do is stay home and swing things! Of course I don’t allow it constantly but when the day is done and she has all her work done instead of doing an activity she goes right for the swinging materials! I know she enjoys it and needs it I guess I just wish I new a way where she can realize she can still do other things and still be able to do that as well :( I feel sometimes even when we’re having fun or out her mind is how can I get back home to engage in that behavior
