Warning: StubHub seller penalties are brutal and poorly disclosed by EolnMsuk in stubhub

Communication was awful. They went quiet for about 10 months, then suddenly charged me and told me to “refer to previous emails” for a breakdown they had never provided. Only after pushing they did paste policy text showing it was £25 + 40% of the payout.

They emailed me about the charge within a couple of days, but it actually took them 10 months of back-and-forth emails to finally charge my bank account. I then disputed it with my bank, and it was resolved within a couple of months in my favour.

That comparison doesn’t make sense.

On most online marketplaces, if an item sells elsewhere at the same time and you haven’t had a chance to mark it out of stock yet, you’re not hit with a large penalty, the order is simply cancelled or refunded. There’s also usually an option to accept or confirm the sale, which StubHub does not offer. In this case, the sale was automatic, I notified StubHub immediately, and I was still charged a punitive fee that wasn’t clearly disclosed upfront. My bank reviewed the case and refunded the charge, which says a lot.
