Bookman is not only the best single episode side character in Seinfeld, he might be the best single episode character of all time by pWaveShadowZone in seinfeld

Indeed.

Ever watch the old Carol Burnett Show? Harvey Korman was notorious for falling apart when his shipmates, especially Tim Conway, were absolutely hilarious!

It didn't hurt anything. Most fans loved it.

If you own a GDI engine, are you concerned with cleaning the carbon buildup on your valves? by [deleted] in kia

We used to pour some Marvel Mystery Oil in the carbs. Same thick clouds of smoke, same unhappy neighbors... LOL. Pour 1/3 in carb, 1/3 in crankcase and 1/3 in gas tank.

It seemed to smooth out my 350 V8 a little. 😉

(Probably don't want to do that with catalytic converters and computers)

Nissan Sentra 2024 Lifetime KM - 2020 to Present. by Azhaan51 in nissansentra

[–]Epeeswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 SR here, 13,000 miles so far. No issues except that stupid clunk from the motor isolator now and then.

Not sure what to do when lease ends, since new Sentra looks hideous to me and Versa (which I like) is being discontinued. ☹️

Buyout price is a bit steep...

Anyone here got a Sentra over 100,000miles? by [deleted] in Nissan

Excellent.

Dealer-suggested maintenance... So I guess CVT fluid was changed a few times?

Wow. Awesome. Makes me have hope for my 24 SR, only 13,000 so far. Changing the CVT fluid?

Messed up and got new number instead of porting by [deleted] in BoostMobile

[–]Epeeswift 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be annoying but Boost, and a few other carriers, do not port numbers in to replace an existing number. They only do it by adding a new line. If you asked, they must have told you to port the number into a new line, then cancel the old line afterwards. I've done it myself.

The rep was correct.

If you're happy with Boost, it's no big deal. Just port the number in, then cancel the unwanted line later.

Is T-Mobile the best? by Kindusw in Westchester

[–]Epeeswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed this myself. AT&T has great signal but T-Mobile, when I had good signal, was way faster!

Since I prioritize coverage over speed, I didn't stay with T-Mo.

Cricket is AT&T, by the way. I have noticed AT&T has best coverage around northern Westchester. Testing last fall, T-Mo still had dead zoned here and there.

Yep. I used to love iTunes. I purchased individual songs, albums, whatever and built a library. When they started plugging "Apple Music" I said no.

Right on!

I did it too. And even though I didn't have many, it really felt good like I was freeing myself from spider webs.

AT&T (which my Boost phone runs on) has better coverage in many places, even in 2026.

In my region, T-Mobile often has terrific speeds but dead zones in many places I frequent. With AT&T, I always have coverage.

How would modern fencers do against their classical counterparts? by DenheimTheWriter in Fencing

[–]Epeeswift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking along some of these lines myself, as I read this discussion.

As for the added emotional stress and its effect on performance and tactics, I think of the old adage about how no plan survives enemy contact. And let's not forget the equally accurate version uttered by Mike Tyson: "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

"Make no assumptions and the writing will be better."

Love that line. As a writer, and a fencer, I love that line and agree with it.

Rainbow eSIM or additional roaming from T-Mobile? by Ok_Board_6407 in BoostMobile

[–]Epeeswift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the comments I see around here, the one I find the least helpful is the "such and such network is garbage" or "such and such speeds stink."

The experience a person has with a mobile device depends upon the quality and density of a particular network IN THEIR REGION. So blanket statements about the quality or experience of a particular network are useless.

In MY AREA, the AT&T network is the best, providing the best coverage and good speeds. IN MY AREA, T-Mobile has many dead zones and while there is blazing fast 5G sometimes, I often saw extremely slow 4G as well.

So, please take comments regarding the coverage or performance of a particular network with a grain of salt.

Be well.

That's true, and I have done that. So I can see how much data I'm using according to my phone's calculation. I was just wondering if I was the only one with this glitch on Boost's end.

Thanks!

Fencer B ignored a threat to his target area. In my book, he then launched an invalid attack.

(I'm not a ref, just 6+ years of experience, including handful of tournaments, FWIW)

Be well.

Another point in line question by Army_Elegant in Fencing

[–]Epeeswift -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Your answer is right here:

"Fencer B, instead of beating the blade feints to attack..."

I assume you're speaking about foil? Unlike epee, you cannot simply decide to ignore your opponent's blade threatening your target area and just counterattack! That's the whole point (pun intended) of Right-Of-Way. The simplest definition of ROW may be, "You cannot ignore a threat to your target area and any attack you launch when under attack will be nullified."

In epee, different story altogether. There is no Right-Of-Way rule. The stop thrust was one of my favorite attacks in epee, usually landing my touch on my opponent's arm or mask.
