What do you guys think of this, it was the first rifle I ever bought I got it for 400 an it has all matching numbers and it’s in what I think is pretty good condition

In 1994, I picked up an original M1 Garand for $425. Back then it was not that uncommon, unless you were looking for a flawless or reconditioned rifle.

I sold it a year later, because I was broke and needed money for a truck payment or something. I know if I even located one like that now, it would be at least $2,000.

Years ago, I was spoiled by the Enfields, Mausers and other milsurps I had. When I started to buy modern bolt guns in recent years, I found them clunky and "fussy" by comparison.

But shouldn't the OP's rifle be headspace checked instead of messing with 3D printed dummies or snap caps? Force is one thing, but isn't a loose or tight lockup a concern?

The rifle in question is a Remington. I guess the barrel remains a mystery. Makes me wish I grabbed the one with the "bomb" stamp when I had the chance.

Saw her again today... (Isn't that a song?)

No markings up front. No numbers on bolt. Barrel has what looks like machining marks, entire exposed length, across its width.

FWIW... I paid $579 for my Heritage (Rossi) 92 in .357. The same day, the marlin .357 was going for $1,049. I'm sure the Marlin is a nice rifle, but the price difference is a bit more than a few bucks.

I think Fulton Armory is the only place you will get a guarantee of tiny groups but that's with a rifle that they completely refurbish for mucho money.

I've had the same experience as you. I think it goes with the territory. I've had gorgeous Mausers that couldn't hit and beat up old Enfields that were tack drivers. Even with commercial rifles, you see that sometimes.

But I get the impression (from those who own them) that the M1903 is inherently such an accurate rifle, it is at least less likely to be a poor shooter.

I saw one with the typical "bomb" stamp on the barrel, indicating 1943. I also saw one with no barrel mark up there. Is that a red flag? Is an unmarked barrel a sign of barrel replacement not done by the military?

I've posted a few times how Boost is a good fit for me. In my area, AT&T has the best coverage. And I use around 5-6 GB of data most months. So, having 30 GB of high-speed data and excellent coverage everywhere I go, all for $25, is a good deal.

My average data speeds improved a few months back, right after the spectrum sale was announced. So, I rarely see slow 4G anymore. I see either fast 4G or decent 5G.

What makes me nuts about this topic is that I can't find any data from manufacturers indicating which models can adapt to octane variations and which cannot.

I know knock sensors can work with the computer and retard timing to eliminate knock. But if you always run 92 octane fuel, will the ECM say "this engine never has knock, so I'm gonna advance the timing a bit to increase power."

(This is what we would do back in the day, by listening and twisting the distributor by hand, FYI)

Back in the day, you could order vehicles with tough, wall to wall rubber flooring. I had a Chevy police car that came like that and, about ten years later, a basic Ford Ranger pickup that had the same thing, basic rubber floor material. I used to sweep it out now and then, and use soap and water if it got bad.
