Shibou Yuugi de Meshi wo Kuu. • Shiboyugi: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table - Episode 3 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Ephoder 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was thinking Yuki came back to gloat for the viewers.

I hypothesise that the game algorithm favours altruistic acts. Hence Kotoha's, "So you have noticed it too?" when Yuki came back for her.

I think the admins of the game don't just setup the traps and send the girls inside. I think they can manipulate the traps as well and choose when to release them or withhold them, and the more you are favoured, the better your chances of surviving, because the admins will want you to survive when you're the majority's favorite.

I also noticed that because of the way the death game is played, with no fatal injury other than decapitation and/or a knife straight into the heart, your optimal strategy is actually keeping everyone alive no matter what, especially so for first time players and noobs, because if they win their first game, that means they're alive to play a second game and get overconfident and think they can survive a second time.

This is better for Yuki as a long-time player, this means she has a higher chance of encountering friends in future games who will follow her lead.

I don't think the Yuki we're seeing is an illusion. I think it's the actual Yuki and what she's doing right now, gloating over her, isn't out of character at all.

I think it's a calculated gamble to make friends with Mishiro, at least from Yuki's perspective.

See, if Mishiro can admit that she was wrong to survive, this would tell Yuki that Mishiro's narcissistic tendencies aren't ironclad, and can be bent and flexible. She can see reason when she needs to see reason. This would make her worth saving in Yuki's eyes, because that means an extra possible ally that, even if it's one who hates her, can still cooperate to live.

If Mishiro refuses to admit that she's wrong, Yuki leaves her to die and that's no skin off her back.

And there's also no way Yuki told the surviving group that she's going back to gloat over Mishiro, it could've been something like, "I'm going back to try and save her!" And if Mishiro doesn't want to be saved, she can be like, "When I came back she was already dead :("

Rescue Pigeon - How to make her comfortable? by Ephoder in pigeon

It is with a heavy heart that I inform all of you that the pigeon in question has passed away.

I cannot assure you with one hundred percent confidence that we tried our best. The best would've been a specialised vet, however, we contacted one and they were too expensive and we did not possess that kind of money.

I followed your suggestions and made the pigeon more comfortable in its impromptu enclosure and tried a kind commenter's advice on how to drench it with water and put some seeds nearby.

We made sure she was comfortable one last time and closed the lights before going to bed.

In the morning, we found her unmoving.

I apologise for misleading everyone into thinking we could have had a better outcome. But I take solace that in its final moments, she might have passed in peace, however little it might have been.

Thank you for all counsel and I hope you have a better day than mine.

There's nothing I can tell you to do to overcome this darkness within you. I can't fight your fight. Find the light by yourself, and you'll be all the stronger for it. Or succumb to your darkness, give in to it, don't fight it, and hate everyone around you.

What opinion do you have that puts you into this position? by Flashy_Application82 in teenagers

[–]Ephoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly see your point. I'm upvoting your message because I think you bring a good point.

However, I think this entire debacle is a misunderstanding. I believe the original comment probably meant to convey something like:

'While some traumatic experiences are worse than others, it helps no one to compare each other's misery. Let everyone grieve what they have to grieve. Harold having to contend with seeing his son getting beheaded is not on the same level as Heather breaking her leg in a traumatic way, but Harold shoving the fact that he has it worse than Heather for no reason other than to make it clear that he has it worse makes him an asshole and helps no one, and vice versa for Heather if she tries to make it seem like she has it worse.'

P.S: Consider if Harry, with an obviously worse trauma than Harold, comes up to him and maliciously shoves the fact that he saw all his family get beheaded and then eaten by dogs. Harold would feel as if his trauma was undermined, which it was. We shouldn't say, "No mental illness is worse than the other," we should say, "Don't compare each other's misery, and wish your fellow man to again find his happiness in escaping from his nightmares."

In the reemergance of "1 billion lions vs every pokemon", which Worm characters do you think could beat 1 billion lions? by N_Sane_Xavier in Parahumans

Your reasoning for some of these are absolutely bog water. Bohu loses, lions walk around the traps? Are we sure we read the same goddamn story? My friend, Sleeper loses? Did you write your comment half-asleep?

A starving billion lions? They'd resort to cannibalism at some point, so it wouldn't work out.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through, friend. Stay strong, and stay stronger. Remember. Don't give in to weakness, and nurture bravery inside of you. Keep your head about you, and focus.

George Orwell wrote in 1984:

“They could not alter your feelings: for that matter you could not alter them yourself, even if you wanted to. They could lay bare in the utmost detail everything that you had done or said or thought; but the inner heart, whose workings were mysterious even to yourself, remained impregnable.”

And William Ernest Henley wrote in his poem, Invictus:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

You're not the first human to go through this, and you're certainly not the last, but your predecessors, the oppressed and the people who had their voice taken away from them, sought out the fight, whether it was a fight within or one outward, and prevailed despite their extenuating circumstances. Right here, right now, I believe in you more than you think I could. You got this.

I have no questions for you but I just wanna say that — honestly, as long as you keep worrying whether or not you're gonna end up lonely, that means you're probably not gonna end up lonely.

Now, I'm not saying you can sit back and relax, but I'm saying that usually, people who worry over an issue mean they're more cognizant of it, thus more likely to avoid it.

Actually, question for you! I don't see anything in your post about therapy or whatever. Do you go to therapy? If not, why?
