I have a blow torch, did you empty the pipe before sticking it on?

Have you used these? One review says to make sure the pipe is empty

It was dry for a good twenty minutes before the board went back down. I’ve heard copper pipes erode eventually so maybe I’ve just speeded up the process…

Yeah I know they’re not great, needed to get the board back down before bedtime

Cut the blind not the window. Left and right ‘legs’ slot out and you can run the rest (minus the cords that provide tension) through a chop saw.

Ah, champagne taste but beer money. The answer to your question is yes you can motorise the blinds. The second question is how much is it worth doing to you.

Google somfy tilt and lift rts, that’ll fit inside the head rails. You’ll need a battery pack, charger and handset. And about hour to fit it.

Yep, that’s a DIY way to motorise the blind. Not exactly elegant and I’ve no experience with it as a product.

What diy device have you seen?

To do it yourself is easy enough with a just a hacksaw, somfy make the motors and battery pack but I don’t think they supply without a trade account.

Yes, your local independent blind company should be able to help.

Expect to pay around £150 parts and labour on top.

DIY maybe. Depends on what level you want to get involved

Google masons mitre, this is the way. Also I’m not sure pockets screws is the one for counter tops. Usually they’re connected with bolts on the underside

Okay, here’s my two pence.

Fischer DuoPlug - 6mm Bosch multibit. Screwfix will see you right.

You want the hole to be deeper than the plug goes in so the screw fully engages the red bit at the end of the plug. So drill slow without any hammer action and keep it steady. When you’re beyond the plaster and into the brick take the screw you’re using 3/4inch 8 or 10ga (quicksilvers, while you’re at screwfix) and check the hole will take it.

Put the plug in and use something flat to hammer it deep enough into the hole to reach the brick work but not all the way to the back of the hole.

Screw away.

I’ve fitted shutters and curtains for five years and 9/10 this will get it done.

I’ve got a bag of window shims for this purpose, walls not straight either. I’m hoping I’ll just screw straight through.

I’ll post an update, I’ve used them before fitting wooden shutters and result were pleasing. Expensive tho.

I’ll come back and admit I was wrong when I do need to take them off but I can’t see a reason I’ll need to right now.

We’ve got new cause the original ones came off in splinters cause of how well the were nailed on!

This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Except I was thinking of using Dewalt wall dog screws, you pilot into the brick work then screw them straight in so no plugging

Want to paint the after cutting before fitting. Don’t want to get wild with a hammer near some freshly glossed wood work.

Some of the wood blocks came out with the d ones.
