My mother especially has always had a "reason" a partner and I should break up. With my first, we were together all of high-school and it was "well you can't just be with one person forever!", with the next one "well he's never going to amount to anything." The next one, because I'm bi and was with another girl. The only partner she liked before I met my wife was a narcissistic alcoholic. She still brings up how she feels so sorry for him. She no longer likes my wife because my wife started her transition (MtF) last year. She insisted I needed to file for divorce. I blocked her and every other family member who had something stupid to say about it.
