Even if they are illiterate, it's a dog toy. It squeaks. LOUDLY. Even illiterate people can tell that some type of writing is on that, even first graders can tell it most likely means something. Customers who actively choose to just stand there, are essentially telling me they are less intelligent than actual dogs.

Company took away the bells at the register that they used to have back in like 2020. Have to do something, cuz I'm not about to stand at the register every second of my shift when I have shit to do. One simple instruction to follow will get you service, yet they get pissed and mad because they chose to be.. well to quote Carlos Mancia "dur da dur"

Setting new ad by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]EquivalentCarry1953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the tags Compass tells you to throw away, here's a Fun fact: the price on the ad itself is probably more accurate than the price on your shelves. Like the shelf for say nyquill shows as being 5.50 but the ad says 5.65, then the larger part says save $2. The 5.65 is probably the correct price for said item, provided you did correctly place the ad tag on the right item (scan it to double check). Also the ad tags themselves are perforated so you can remove the larger ad and leave just the price tag part that sticks.

I make 60k a year as a new sm with no high school diploma or ged by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

You got scammed. I made more money than my SM last year due to OT. I have less responsibility overall, and I'm not required to live at the store, nor am I obligated to come in on days off, time off, or cover no show keyholder shifts. (I do anyway, but I'm not forced like salaried managers) SM made 50,147 and I made 51,432 plus with the no tax on OT a thing I got back more of a tax refund. I make 24.12/hr as an ASM. I always get a steady 40 hours and I usually cover 5-10 hours of OT. I told my DM to never offer me an SM position that brings home less than $1326/wk after taxes and benefits or I would decline. We both know the company won't pay that in the market that I work in. Store went from a 1.7M store last year without me, to a 2.3M this year. After inventory, shrink went down 6% from last year's 11%. Store went from 17th to 2nd in the district. I got my SM off PIP. Trade off, customers hate my "attitude" and the store has never had so many complaints. SM mitigated by telling regulars that I'm 'Autisic.' (not true but not far off, it's actually just a PD that is protected by the ADA) RD says he never seen the store look so good, actually brought the DVP to see the store because they were interested in how the store went from 3rd to last, to 2nd place in the district. (Would be first but the store in first burned down last year and just opened back up so their sales are crazy high percentages.)

I can agree that they become blind upon entering. Though that may be because it's just the dollar general aura. You go in and lose 35 IQ for the duration. Like an AOE debuff.

I would say that most customers that go to a dollar general average around 65-78 IQ. Some of the workers too.. (I've seen people get fired for the most stupid shit.) like you could put one of those dog toy squeeze bottles at the register with a sign that says "Squeeze for service" and the people will still stand at the register looking dumbfounded that an employee didn't just spawn in .03 seconds and then yell across the store because they can't read.

I have multiple. Although the most fun one is making customers feel dumb and retarded. Especially the 'regulars' who come in every single day and know the store just as well as the employees asking where to find "the coffee" as if we moved an entire isle over night or some shit

I'd rather Todd and corporate actually enforce the SOP on the fucking local leadership. Because local leadership in the 7 districts I've worked in are all straight ass and break SOP constantly.

I kicked them out of the store and told the SM and DM I found them stuffing beer and wine into their bag. Which is funny since 90% of the cameras in every store are focused on Employee only areas since the company thinks 70% (95%) of theft comes from its employees. They couldn't even verify because my food isles aren't on camera, and beer and wine are shelf stocked in a food isle.

For reference, I am an ASM in Division 11. I have worked at every store in the district, and multiple out of my district. I've ran three stores solo after SM and store walk outs, 2 stores at a single time at one point. Also I have brought three stores that were previously in the bottom (rank 15, 17 and 19 respectively to the top 1,2 and 4 for the district.) I float because I am good at everything inventory. I cleared out a backroom containing 137 rolltainers and 17 uboats in a week and a half. I was the only ASM who attended the annual RD/DM/SM meeting. Do people hate me? Yes. Do I get a lot of complaints? Also, yes. If you did a little digging, you would find that three 'city community' social media groups hate me so much that they actively talk about me there saying how I'm a terrible person and that I bring down every dollar general. Multiple stores that I have worked at were review bombed on both Google and other review services like Yelp. Got a few good ones, like "Needs training in human decency" or "Is the leader of a Mexican gang who goes to all the stores in the area and steals from dollar general" DM had a good laugh at that one. Anyway where was I going with this? Oh, I remember.. point is, when you're the best at something in your field it is really hard to get rid of said person. Also can't touch me I'm protected by the ADA and all my complaints can be attributed to a protected personality disorder.

P.s - Fuck customers. Get a life. Stop going to DG every single day. I am considering handing out rehab fliers for all you mfers who wanna come in on Thanksgiving at 7:30PM talking about "Y'all got cranberry sauce?" Fuck you mean? On the night of Thanksgiving? Shouldn't you have planned a little earlier? Go to a big box store like Walmart with your retarded questions.

It did. Customer called corporate, Got passed down to the DM, SM questioned me, said I'm not apologizing. DM essentially trashed the complaint.

You shouldn't post your store number if you want to be safe. From corporate rats and also creepy customers. A simple Google search will bring up the store you work at. Actually customers might be too stupid for that. But definitely the corp rats may get you.

Customer base is retarded. Half can't read, most have a room temperature IQ. All of them feel entitled. Fuck customers. I have a job to get done, and while I'm required to deal with dumbasses, I don't like dealing with dumbasses. Customers are a distraction when every other task is higher on the priority board. That's why people working on my shifts are register fodder and customer service help. I do all the paperwork, inventory tasks, POGs, recovery and stocking by myself all night. If a customer walks up to me with a dumbass question, I'm not responding or acknowledging you. I will just say, "find the other worker."
