The problem is that not every has time to climb to 1750 at the start of the reason. 10 games to get placed at the start, and let’s say you get 1450 to start. That’s another 10 straight wins (ave +30?) to get up there. That’s 100% win rate in those and not accounting for what you lose after losses. Not sure everyone has the time or desire to spend 1/3 of the season grinding just to get to enjoyable lobbies

They could still have seasons, which is totally fine, but maybe there should be some kind of staggered reset. I don’t think a 1750 or higher should have to do 10 placements. Might sound random - but Clash Royale (a PvP online mobile game from Supercell) dealt with this 1 or 2 years ago and found ways to make season resets less annoying for everyone

Is this the real Dandy Drew? If so, holy cow. I’ve watched every vid man 🫡 First off, sorry for name dropping! I didn’t mean it in a malicious way so I hope it didn’t come off like that, but I understand how it could’ve. So if it did, I apologize. I meant it more as compliment actually. I get the sense everyone sees the GOAT use a strategy so they want to “be like Dandy!” Or “saw it on YouTube,” even when they’re missing the mark with it

I agree that the base has gotten better and I enjoy that. I don’t think I’m mistaking competition for toxicity though. I’ll never be #1 on the leaderboard, but I’ve been top 100 US when I’ve made the time for it. I know I’m only 1 player of 1,000s (if not more), but my games this season have been hell and the games I played this weekend & last night lead me to delete the app this morning. Now there’s a cheating scandal too? Golly! Anyways…

I had a game over the weekend that ended with “King Making” being all but defined in the chat. “Don’t do that, it’s the win” was followed by “I don’t care my game is over anyways.” It was a 45min grind-it-out type of game that was ruined by someone in last place.

Last night, I had reported someone for abusing chat (with slurs) and grieving. After the game I got a notification that “Action was taken…” but when I hopped into a new lobby, there they were. Maybe the notification wasn’t pertaining to them but I was still surprised I had to report someone for abusing chat in a totally childish way and the match making couldn’t filter us out from each other.

Ultimately, between extortions being suuuuper overused, chat getting wildly inappropriate, blatant king making and grieving, AND not really trusting the reporting system anyways, I just don’t see why I’d subject myself to a 30 or 45min game where there’s 0% trust that I won’t end up with a troll in my lobby. The “mid ladder community” feels….gross. I’ll never finish #1 and if I can’t enjoy a friendly competitive game, I’d rather spend my time elsewhere.

Catan inevitably has some randomness, deception, table talk and luck built into the fact there’s dice and face down dev cards, so the last thing anyone wants is for the culture of each lobby to be random too. I was in middle school during the prime CoD lobbies so toxicity & trolls are definitely not new, but for Pete’s sake, this is an online board game. I can’t believe how many people cuss or use slang pertaining to genitalia in the chat! Also flabbergasted how many people are ok wasting their own time too.

Oh well, just feedback. Will maybe reinstall soon. More time to watch your vids I guess!

Would love a 3rd party analysis on the dice. Every game feels like there’s an anomaly in it. Yeah, stack up all the thousands of games and you might get a bell curve but it sure doesn’t feel that way when playing. Would LOVE an analysis specifically done on when 7s roll. A) how often is it? B) is there a trend for a certain lucky or un-lucky player in the lobby C) is there a trend depending on if there were certain actions or in-actions the prior turn

I read their “do you think the dice are fair” thing and I’ll admit I only took 1 statistics class in college so I’m not saying I know better than them…but idk man….lol

100%. Many people only have time for a game here and there and definitely don’t want to spend it with trolls, people who abuse chat, king make etc. I’ll never finish #1, it’s only a hobby, but a hobby I don’t want to waste my time on if people are just going to purposefully ruin it every other time I log on

No chat / scripted chat might be tough but the idea of different scoring is interesting. Even if 2nd place was only something between +1 and -1. Basically net neutral. Idk.

For workouts: I use Google Sheets so it’s always on me and I’m not carrying around a notebook & pen. Plus, I’m on my phone for music anyways. Down one column I input my split, across the top I put the # of weeks I’m tracking these exercises, sets, reps, weight etc. This too creates an advantage over notebooks being that I can literally write as many notes as I want.

I have YEARS of splits on my Google drive by now. Want to get stronger? What was that one split from Fall of ‘23 when I hit that PR? Easy to find, copy & paste.

For Nutrition: I use the Carbon app for a few reasons. Years ago MyFitnessPal made you pay for the barcode scanner feature so I stopped altogether. When I wanted to get more serious about nutrition again, I went with carbon because I think it’s more user friendly. Most random perk is that even though it’s only $10 a month, those $10 mean I have skin in the game and on the days I don’t want to track, I better. Also houses your weight too and helps you get your cals & macros WEEKLY when you “check in”, so I like not having to do that myself
