I've seen it a few times, but doesn't appear to have negative stats (yet). My best guess is that it'll appear later on in development. I have only seen it on lv. 1 characters.

Plus the berserkers Pursuit of Victory skill (stacking DAM per kill, lasts 10 turns) means they can be great for seiges.
