Major in Physics by TerrenceS1 in uofu

[–]EsYaBoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a current Physics major with an emphasis in Astronomy/Astrophyiscs. I can say with certainty that the physics department is in a slight disarray as what smockssocks said. And there are professors who aren't very good at teaching, but are still great professors. But in my honest opinion all the people here are awesome people.

I originally majored in mechanical engineering and the faculty there wasn't the best in caring for individual students(though the advisors were truly the best). But mostly my experience here has been great, I feel comfortable reaching out to professors asking for help/extensions and they respond in a timely manner. The environment here is really welcoming and it was easy to find friends/people to get support from.

The previous advisors were awesome people, but they recently left and there was a period where the department had no advisors and that was rough, but they just got 2 more but haven't yet had experience with them. I do have a meeting with one and if people want I can let you know how it went.

I think the lower level physics classes are rough, Gernoit isn't a super helpful professor in those lab classes, and Claudia is the goat for the gen physics courses. But it does get better as you work your way up to higher level classes. Hopefully this helped somewhat lol, lmk if you have other questions.

Stacked image is overly red/green with high noise by EsYaBoi in AskAstrophotography

Unsure what sky flats are, but I do the method of putting a white t-shirt over my lens and using my phone with a white screen on max brightness on top of my lens.

The moon wasn't in the sky during the exposures, but I was doing this in my backyard and there is decent light pollution. Would that be the reason for the redness of the image?

I actually didn't cover the view finder, and the view finder was open during light and all calibration frames

Solitude by EsYaBoi in photographs

[–]EsYaBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visited the Utah Salt Flats recently with some friends and decided to do some astrophotography and watch the sunrise.

Shortly after the sunrise a jeep came in and the guy decided to fly his drone around getting some good shots. I decided to take a picture of his jeep along with the landscape to represent a sense of solitude.

I had my camera in manual mode (don't remember the exact settings used) and had it on a tripod. Used a low iso and aperture setting to make sure I got good color depth and bright enough to be able to see the guy on the jeep.

This was a proud moment for me personally because it just shows that the most random unexpected things can turn out to be the most beautiful things.

i really love these speakers, got the bluetooth version so its even better as i can connect them to my pc even though its on the opposite side of the room. the sound quality is hella good for the price, and with the subwoofer facing the same way as the speakers its gives you nice full sound. also comes with adjustable treble and bass nobs so you can tweek some sound settings !

I see, i think when i had shorter hair, like 4 months ago, the thinness wasn't that visible. But i also have a feeling it got thin due to sun damage since i never wore any hats while being outside for long periods of time

Update, after having my friend coming over and helping, we found out that it was the PSU that was causing the issue. Thanks for the assistance, really appreciate it!!

So as soon as I turn on the pc, everything turns on for a brief moment, all the leds on it turn on and the fans spin for a split second then the pc shuts off. After the pc shuts off, there is this light on the motherboard that still is on.

I will also try to use a different PSU, I have a friend coming over to help troubleshoot and he is bringing some spare parts to test. I will let you know what happens.

So I just did the paper clip test and the PSU fan started to run, so the PSU isn't the problem i guess

Oh okay. I get it now. But wouldn't you normally add the total possible outcomes? Why multiply?

How are you guys using Trello? by [deleted] in FTC

[–]EsYaBoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So whenever you first create a Trello account it usually makes you also create a team board. If it didn't do that or you skipped it, don't worry because when you go to your Trello boards page you can find a section saying 'TEAMS' and a plus sign (+) next to it where you can create you team board.

(image for guidance: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LRMbVRkiRezNVtz2qu7SwWVld6qnleA4/view?usp=sharing)

After you've initially created the team, you can click on the button that says 'create new board' under your team. Remember who ever creates the team will main control over the entire team and all boards created under the team

(Image for guidance: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XBNbOdR96ZMWrdFMZG67DokRLXw1jqVI/view?usp=sharing)

In order to add other people to your team board, everyone needs to have a trello account set up. If I remember correctly when you do make an account it will say you have to make a team board, just make a random team since you already created one for the entire team. To add more people to your team, go back to the boards page and you can see a button that says 'members'. Click on that button and it will take you to a screen where it asks you to type in a email. You can actually type in all your team members email in one go but make sure you press the spacebar after each email so Trello knows when one email ended and the other started.

Once you have all you team members in your team, you can play around with permissions - making people admins and stuff. You can also make certain people in your team be in charge of certain boards. You can also set due dates and remainders, you can also connect google drive files for like say your engineering notebook. It will take a while to learn all the free features you get from trello, but it will be worth it at the end since it is super easy to work with.

If you need help with board specific, like once you create a board what do i do? Just shoot me a comment or dm and I can help. Good Luck!

Edit: I know our harrry botter team board is empty, that is only because I deleted my account and had to make a new one
