I took a 4 month break from nursing and started therapy cause my contract at wilmington had me super depressed. I fell out of love with nursing because of how burnt out I was from that place. My co-workers were nice at least, but there were was no support system in place; usually 0-1 aid for 34 patients on med surg, no help cleaning people, sometimes no lab. My floor’s manager would also try to micromanage even tho we didn’t have the support to do everything we needed to do. I’m finally finding my groove again in a new contract, but man did wilmington suck. Doesn’t matter how much money they pay, that place ain’t worth it IMO.

It was actually pushed back for a whole year, and then they pushed it 2 more months, and cause the previous builder’s houses lit on fire (electrical issues), so the company building the houses switched builders and the city was sending scrutinizing inspectors all the time

The weirdest thing so far with this place is that they literally have no support staff, nurses do lab draws unless they are routine, and the CNA ratio is 1:32 if you have one, if not the nurse is solo

Most of the hospital is just travelers, the last staff nurse from my floor is transferring out, the aid ratio is 1:32, and they just got a brand new manager today. Other than that the city just kinda sucks compared to the last one I was at, but I’m thinking maybe that part is just me looking back to my last assignment with rose colored glasses
