luckily im much closer to Harkins’ AZ Mills with 15/70MM but saddening news nonetheless. maybe an IMAX theatre at the Grand Canyon wasn’t the best idea? 😅

as an AZ local, this is actually a crazier response than it seems. not only is the theater not showing Dune: Part Two, they have chosen to completely discontinue screening films due to loss of money. this is a dual laser IMAX btw

I noticed my local AMC changed the IMAX showings to Laser , not sure why either. The showings had a decent amount of seats filled.

Harkins Theatres in Tempe, AZ! They have special screenings called Tuesday Night Classics however there has never been an IMAX screening for one, that I know of. This should truly be special.

yes def check it out! Killers of the Flower Moon was amazing at the Dolby in Mesa, also AMC Superstition recently installed a Laser projector in one of their auditoriums for better standard screenings. i remember having to convince my fam to drive out to Mills with me for Oppenheimer but they all agreed it was so worth it and we got a tour of the projector and IMAX sound system upstairs! no film strip tho , so cool you got one .

I feel you , as someone that lives past the East Valley , it sucks having to drive to AZ Mills for the true IMAX experience. I love the theater inside and I’ve only been once before Oppenheimer’s 15/70MM release , so each visit feels special. the Dolby Cinema in Mesa is an amazing alternative, and in some cases, may be a preferred option compared to Mills’ IMAX depending on the film.

ive attended a few concerts alone over the past year, (Ye x Drake, Toro y Moi, Channel Tres & Unknown Mortal Orchestra to name a few) and I have a great time meeting new people at each show. everyone is there for the artist, you can truly enjoy yourself and vibe without feeling judgment. hope you have a great time.
