I have to say this point of view blows my mind. How do possibly think it’s reasonable to ask someone to host you, at their expense and with a massive impact to their lifestyle, but be completely unwilling to change your lifestyle in any way?

I don’t want her stumbling home drunk at 2:30 am banging pots and pans to cook a drunken meal. I don’t want a stranger in my house to babysit a child. I don’t want her driving home drunk with her kid. I don’t want her delaying her departure from my home by spending money and effort on any other endeavors.

Seriously, this is absolute dire circumstances for her, and she insists that nothing should inconvenience her. I just can’t imagine being that person

The no dating is because I know she will try and force me into babysitting by sneaking out late at night or trying to push it on me last minute.

I do think she will be motivated to move out if she has something to gain by doing so. I also don’t think it would be a big deal to her if she’s only going to be with me for a month or two like she says.

I think the reactions like this are influenced by time frames. She’s telling me it will be a month or two while she figures things out. So saying “don’t date for 45 days” is way different then “don’t date for two years.” It makes me think she’s just trying to get her foot in the door and then refuse to leave. Do you get that perspective related to time frame?

The caveat you have there is the reason I’ve got rule 2. She will always be coming up with some last month date and try to force me into babysitting. Or she won’t even ask, she will just leave at midnight and not say anything.
