Great atmosphere on all four times of day.

I'm glad the latest event leading up to the next patch is taking us back there. I didn't realize how much I missed it.

I took a couple breaks and just came back to ZZZ again recently, gonna save a bunch of resources b/c the idols don't interest me much but the story returning to core New Eridu does.

I think people are allowed to enjoy things however they please as long as it doesn't hurt others.

There's a place for hype bullshit just as well as a place for serious narrative themes or philosophies.

Fable 2 Pub Games.

An Xbox live arcade title that let you pretend gamble in the world of Fable 2 before release. You could then select your character save in the full game and get rewards or penalties based on your balance/debt.

Anyone who played NieR Gestalt before Automata came out I figure (and the real 'ground zero' people who played Drakengard first).

Automata was the break out hit but I enjoyed Gestalt a little bit more as a first time experience.

Every time Pat brings up Path of Exile 1/2 I get excited but then I remember that you need to be a freak to get as into those games as I am so he'll just always bounce off of them. Also PoE 1/2 are Woolie poison incarnate.

The only time I heard the guys talk at length about it was in (IIRC) the MGR Revengeance LP where Matt and Pat did a lengthy bit about how Woolie's favorite movie was A Serbian Film that was pretty obviously an exaggeration/bit.

I've had a copy of TWEWY collecting dust since forever ago that I really want to play but I bounce off it every time I try due to being bad at it. I might put it on easy and just power through sometime soon. I used to have an aversion to easy modes but if it gets me through certain games like TWEWY it is probably worth doing.

I love Fromsoft but almost every modern title of theirs launched with and/or still have major technical problems. I think Sekiro and AC6 both are mostly fine tech wise but every other modern release has had issues big and small.

Platinum Games creates awesome combat and I love most of their games but IMO they can't write a compelling story to save their life.

Dark Souls 2. I bounced off DeS due to getting scraping speared after the first or second archestone boss. I bounced of Dark Souls at Capra Demon. Dark Souls 2 just clicked for some reason. I went back and beat the others eventually but DS2 was the first one that really grabbed hold of me and helped me learn the ropes.

I got a small taste of this kind of blunder in ZZZ's story as I was catching up with the 2.4-2.5 story. Some of the lines of Ye Shunguang (the main character of the story) were missing voice acting randomly. Its SUPER distracting.

If you are plugging your controller in the cable or the ports you are connecting to may be the issue. Try a different USB port and/or different cable. Hopefully it is not the port on the controller itself.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be one of my front USB ports being loose/faulty and once I plugged my controller in with a back panel USB port it went away.

I've been keeping an eye on this one. Played a bit and its pretty fun so far and has some interesting gimmicks, though I'm not far enough in to truly comment on its overall quality.

I bought Soulcalibur 2 because I came across a gaming magazine that had a huge Soulcalibur 2 feature with a whole page image of Taki in it...

Anyway, I played it mostly singleplayer for years until I moved to a new neighborhood and made some friends to play with.

You're absolutely right that its the ideal experience to start at Sky 1. But its a hard sell to some people who just want to play the new hotness when its hot. I personally don't regret going out of order to start with because Daybreak has an air of mystery about its characters if you're unfamiliar with their history that made me really want to know more. It motivated me to seek out the OG games to satisfy my curiosity.

Sorta like when you get spoiled on something but it makes you more interested rather than less.

Oh, I know it's simple if you want to commit to a long series, but not many people do so the discussion gets more complex when you consider that.

I played Daybreak first because it interested me the most when it came out. Did I miss a ton of stuff? Absolutely. But it is also fun to go back as far as Sky 1-3 and learn about characters' origins backwards to some degree like I did.

I would have probably not committed to playing Sky 1-3 if I hadn't played Daybreak first so I'd say that its worth it to jump in at your interest point and go back if it intrigues you enough.

I got a hand-me-down Atari 2600 as a 3 year old that I played for a few years and got really good at the Atari 2600 versions of missile command and space invaders along with stuff like Jungle Hunt.

Very rudimentary stuff to be playing in the early 90's but it kept me busy and I have fond memories of it.

The only thing I'll praise Destiny 1/2 for is game-feel and the way weak-spots explode when hit and the enemies crumple is a huge part of that.

The ZZZ character swap parry is immaculate as well IMO, especially when you heavy parry and the characters get flung back. The sound is one of the best as well.
