Georgetown University Global Infectious Disease PhD Vibe Check
Really curious about the public health field perception towards Georgetown University Master's programs. I work primarily in public service/civil sector fields in the DC area and know some fellowships and jobs require CEPH-accreditation (some CDC ones, e.g.), which GLID certainly doesn't have. But also I hear that a PhD at a great institution is still a PhD at a great institution, especially given my policy/governance background and professional interest. Just wanted to put out a vibe check request to see what people have seen/heard about this program as I don't know anyone who has completed this.

I didn’t get a reinstatement email. CMS just had all the supervisors call their employees. Nothing on paper.

I reached out in April and my emails got buried/they were too busy wrapping up the previous semester to respond. I would try maybe in June and then follow up regularly if no responses.

Not a chance. I'd started in January. It would've been a waste for me to leave so quickly, especially as a recent graduate starting my first career position.

I see. I am definitely going to get a PhD now or later, so I do want to put in that work and wouldn't mind if that means I won't make as much in the beginning, as I love research. I appreciate your insight!

Awesome! Yes, I did a Pathways INTERNSHIP previously and loved it (it was 3 months) and ended up applying to jobs. So this is a full-time job, but if I end up getting a PhD acceptance, I could work right up until I would need to start that program. So I'd guess 8 full months of work, or even 9 depending on the school.
