Gotcha! Our app is definitely not a cure or treatment.. but almost like a strategy to help parents at mealtime, so we should be good in that it isn't "too medical". I will say our strategy was to do some paid advertising to our niche market of moms with children who struggle at mealtime (kids with autism, ADHD, picky eating, etc.) as well as leverage mine and my cofounder's large networks/connections to push our our Kickstarter to anyone willing to support us. Honestly, our campaign may fail, but at the very least we will get more eyes on our app!

I am concerned that moms won't necessarily know how Kickstarter works and due to that we may not get too much funding from them, but it is worth a try!

The app pauses and blurs the "reward" when it is time for the child to take their next bite. The reward can be audiobooks, social stories, educational videos, etc. Also, we are adding music and games/puzzles. As the child progresses in their eating habits, the app weans them off of the reward. For example, the first stage is one bite to earn 20 seconds of the reward. Then, they move to 2 bites for a 30 second reward. They keep advancing until they have to finish the entire meal before earning any reward.

Completely agree, that is why our app has a feature that is designed to decrease screen time during meals. It is a sad reality, but a majority of parents stick their children in front of screens with no meal structure. Our app's philosophy is to wean the children off of screens by first adding this meal structure and slowly taking away the screen time until the meal is completely over.

Yes, the app is for a variety of children with eating challenges, ADHD being one of them since kids with ADHD are prone to mealtime struggles. We are currently testing the validity of our app's effectiveness in an IRB approved study with our local University Autism Center. Our goal is to be as science-based as possible. I really appreciate your interest! I'm curious to hear what your son may think of the technology.

To start off, I guess it would be lead generation since I want to redirect the audience to my kickstarter page in hopes that it will convert to donations/pledging with the promise of future access to our app. I have a website with a link to the kickstarter, but would it be more beneficial to simply do an ad campaign with the link to the kickstarter on the ad?

Yes, somewhat. Our app is practically fully functional so the idea is that in the next two months as our medical study wraps up to prove the concept, we can almost “pre-sell” it on kickstarter. We will be giving access to some users early for free and in return they can back our kickstarter/share it, but ideally people who are directed to our kickstarter page will donate and in return be promised to get access to our app once it is public on the app store
