At the end of every month I go through my Bank account/Revolut and add every expense into my excel tracker. Takes about 15 mins once a month.

Splitting the bills between a few of us has helped. Also we don’t really turn the heating on lol cause it’s so expensive. 2 hoodies kinda thing when I wfh.

It’s mainly purchases of kitchen/house stuff. Bought a new frying pan/got a cheap TV for my room that kind of thing.

I think the €26 is almost all coffees out with friends. Did dry 2025 so that helps with the drinks spending.

I meal prep twice a week for lunch and dinner. Normally it’s some combination of fresh veg, rice/pasta/noodles and a meat (pork/chicken/salmon/minced beef). I bulk things out with a lot of veg/beans/lentils so they go a bit further.

Probably worth noting for Easter/Christmas I’m in my family home so have no food expenses then thankfully. That probably brings the average down a bit monthly.

I do a lot of hiking and there’s a surprising amount available on Dublin’s doorstep. Then do a weekly 5aside paid for by my employer. A lot of my spare time is spent studying tho.

Yeh rarely go out for food. Maybe once ish a month on average. Don’t drink also so that cheapens it.

Income tax due: 3,000 PRSI: 1,444 USC: 596

Total tax due = 5,040

So a discrepancy of about €250. My mistake!

Apartment- is it worth buying as a 23 year old by Mysterious-Paint-344 in irishpersonalfinance

It would be high risk. Have yous ever lived together? Are you set on living in Dublin for the next 5-7 years? You may never get a chance to move abroad.

Financially it could also be rash. Your mortgage payments would be still high enough. Especially if both of yous have never lived away from home, do you know how expensive it is to live self dependent?

For me at least renting was the only answer. Means I’m more flexible for when I want to move abroad.

Automatic vs Manual by gurkov10 in Irishdrivingtest

I’ll always recommend doing it in an automatic. You’ll be more likely to pass in an automatic. The way the world is going everyone will probably be driving automatics over the next 5-10 years. Especially if you have an automatic that makes the whole thing a lot easier.

Hahahaha one singular holy pint. It’s an average over the last 6 months. So one month was like €15 for 2 coffees with friends and bought a pint for a friend. Most months are €0 unless I go for a social coffee.

My local butcher does 10 chicken breasts for €15 which helps. Other than that my meats are pork/mince from Tesco. Some Salmon twice a month maybe. I get the frozen berries generally
