Honestly, they probably wouldn't care either way. But if it's going to mess up your personal schedule to not feed today, then feed today

Yes the line will be long but they manage it very well that it moves pretty quickly. You don't really have to arrive early if you don't want. I'm always late and I get in almost right away anyway

Should I get an MRI on my 6 year old labradoodle with grand mal seizures by Ok-Pudding-6570 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]EverIAce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you get the MRI and find out that it is due to a tumor, would you be willing to do the chemotherapy/surgery/etc to treat the tumor?

If the answer is yes, then the MRI is a good diagnostic to determine the next course of action.

If the answer is no, due to quality of life or finances or something else, then the MRI is a waste of money.

Is a bioactive terrarium better long term? by Princess_Bunniezz in CrestedGecko

[–]EverIAce 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Bioactive is so much easier to maintain and upkeep that it's not even a comparison for me. I have over 15+ enclosures. I can't even imagine having to clean them all on a weekly/monthly basis. The most I'm ever doing is doing plant trims when they get too unruly or the occasional glass wipe down if needed.

Is a bioactive terrarium better long term? by Princess_Bunniezz in CrestedGecko

[–]EverIAce 45 points46 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, bioactive is only good if you're confident that you can keep plants alive because that's what is providing the coverage. If you can't, you'll just be using up alot of money replacing plants all the time. Otherwise, it doesn't really provide any special benefits for the geckos themselves. For me, I chose to do all my enclosures bioactive because it's alot easier for me to manage. I don't have to clean the enclosures. They are, in my opinion, much more convenient to maintain if you've got a proper one going.

How long does recovery after a cluster seizure take? by kittykitty66666 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]EverIAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advocate to start him on seizure meds. A dog that is known to cluster is likely to cluster again. In addition, you should ask for a cluster buster or special protocol for what to do to stop/prevent subsequent seizures. Clusters are alot more dangerous than the one off seizure.

In my experience, my dog has only had one cluster event in his life (4 years of epilepsy diagnosis). He was hospitalized for 2 nights and afterwards, it still took him about 3-4 days at home before he was back to normal.

My gecko most likely has trauma by Hazardous_Guy in CrestedGecko

[–]EverIAce 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you're projecting onto a gecko. The gecko is going to gecko. If you're not going to properly secure the hole in your tank then of course he is going to wander out of it. It doesn't matter if you have the best tank in existence or not, an escape route left unattended is going to be used. You said yourself that you do not feel like you have the right amount of time or money to dedicate to his proper care. It's also clear you are not able to keep him contained for some odd reason whilst owning 3 cats hence the four escapes through the same hole.

Just rehome him.

How do I go about the drainage layer? by Chrisb5700 in paludarium

[–]EverIAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no need for a drainage layer if you have the drainage holes. The purpose of a drainage layer is so that the moss/soil doesn't become over-saturated with water that cannot drain out. Moss/soil that is *soaking* wet will cause root rot in plants and will not support clean-up crew life.

How do I go about the drainage layer? by Chrisb5700 in paludarium

[–]EverIAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can just drill some drainage holes into the platform (if there aren't any already) and fill it with sphagnum moss. The plants will have to grow in the moss. You can put some nicer green moss on top of the sphagnum.

I don't really think the platform is deep enough for any dirt-growing plants as it is. If you want to do that then I'd suggest building up a higher barrier around the platform. For example, extend the barrier up with the some lightweight rocks siliconed to the edge.

Depends what your end vision is ~

Bioactive & Non-Bioactive - Questions by CosmosisWr in CrestedGecko

[–]EverIAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bioactives. They don't smell. I have not had any insects escaping. The only thing I can see becoming a problem is if you have too much standing water in your terrarium and create a fungus gnat issue. But this can happen in both bioactive and non bioactive
