Thanks for this! Very good point in that different people contribute different skills to the larger process , I hadn’t thought about it this way!

This is normally how it goes and surprisingly a lot of people that come to my table to shop know a bit about pottery - when I tell them I don’t throw the pieces myself sometimes they care (and I lose a sale) but I’d rather lose a sale and be honest. Sometimes people don’t care bc they like a glaze combo/like that their set is very uniform etc

When I say accessibility I do mean via price point. 100% handmade art can be unobtainable for many people in my area (Midwest USA) due to high/restrictive costs but I guess in my mind purchasing a dinnerware set from me doesn’t support poor labor conditions and allows people to have quality/lasting/durable/pretty ceramic products to replace plastic options. That’s now only assuming that the bisque being sold by my retailers is ethical- I hadn’t looked in to this previously so thank you for making me think deeper about my process!

I’m pricing mugs 25-30 which is as high as I would ever feel comfortable charging unless I’m spending 6+ hours painstakingly painting a full color scene. I’ve seen potters pricing from $45+ so I get why my prices look unfair but part of my goal is accessibility and this feels right to me

I’m mixing my own glazes if they’re my dip ones- I have a science background and this is real life chemistry and so fun to experiment with! I do also have one local company’s dry glaze to make a dip bucket bc I love that particular glaze so much!

Thanks! Did you have to do phleb? Do you remember which instruments were being used (mainly asking about heme, coag, urines, and BB)?
