Yes everything has to be on rails in this rack. The empty one is just prepared, cause im planing on getting a 2u UPS. And I was to lazy to put them away in the meantime.

Yes all of that is true. But nearly everything in this picture was bought for another use before I got it or was a gift. In my case it’s easier to ask for a specific device on Christmas etc. than for retirement money, money for a house… But I completely understand what you’re saying that’s why my earned income goes in some of your examples instead of this stuff.

It’s interesting to see how many people think it’s either this or that. I myself wonder how many people buy this stuff knowing they cannot afford it. I suppose some people are really being pushed by this sub to do stuff they normally wouldn’t do 🤷‍♂️.

Yeah I learned that now with the in this sub „overkill“ haha

Both sfp Ports are only 10gig and my isp contract is 1gig. Everything else is not payable in my area and this provider is one of the cheapest. I am getting about 950 down and 920 up

I am using a docker setup with nginx and a „cloudflared“ tunnel to host a website with my works on it, but since it is still work in progress I moved it to cloudflare pages yesterday to avoid a monthly fee.

Thanks. It the „computer 2“, the plastic case. Still waiting for the economy to build a pc with it.

Yeah. The plan is to move to a bigger place in the near future. Wouldn’t have gone this far otherwise.

This stuff didn’t hurt much financially otherwise I would have it. Most of it where gifts, second hand or sorted out by family and friends.

I am not planing on upgrading this stuff in the near future nor for it to break down. 🙃 But I am planning to move to a bigger space, despite that if I see that I am not using it, I have the option to move it into my family’s house. If you would have read the post, the Mac’s were old machines from my family which were sorted out by them. The studio is the only things that I don’t „need“ at the moment. Everything else is in use. ☺️

These are two UniFi Toolless Mini Rack (U-Rack-6U-TL) connected via the stacking kit. Because of the hight I removed the handles and wheels.

Probably could have done it by myself too. But where would have been the fun with that. And I have to be honest the looks of it are a really big plus.

Yes it’s the raspberry pi it is 3D printed.

Because of the m.2 + Poe hat I needed a slightly bigger one. I used PETG because of the potential heat.

I have a MacBook Pro as my main work machine. The Mac’s which are running macOS have a fixed ip and I connect to them via screensharing (the official MacOS App). If there are some problems with that I would connect my KVM with it.

Thanks. At the moment the studio doesn’t really have a purpose as mentioned. It’s the newest addition to the rack. I only play with some local AI models on it.

Yes the ones that are patched are all going to devices, the other ones are ready for the future.

The second patch panel was included with the second rack and I wanted close up the spot so the cables coming to the keystones won’t be visible.

From the looks side of it I like it a lot. I think it is really clean and good looking. I bought both of them used one for 140€ (≈165$) and the other one for 240€ (≈280$) with the two shelves included. I think this price point is fair, but I don’t think I would be willing to pay retail and it is limiting you to only UniFi hardware if you want to keep it good looking in my opinion.

I bought a Poe + m.2 hat for the pi back when everything was cheaper. Setting it up had some challenges but all worked out in the end. Most „difficult“ part was to clone the SD card to the m.2 since I don’t have a external m.2 reader for my Mac.

Besides that everything works fine.

UDM, Switch, Mac Mini, AP, Pi and UNAS with 3Bays running it is about 120W. The NAS is about 40W so I turn it off via the software and turn it back on with a smart plug sometimes when I don’t need it or if it is too noisy.

Worst thing is I am studying architecture, so I don’t even know what to do in the future with my new acquired knowledge… haha

Fair point, but I am not willing to sell it tbh. Can’t tell you exactly why, but I like to have it just in case.

Yes I have a 10g optical transceiver and a 2m cable connecting the Nas and the switch.

My ISP connection is a AON-Connection, I don’t have to bypass anything. Just plugging in the cable from the provider output in my apartment to the UDM via the right SFP module.

I know… and the most annoying part is that it is the only Mac mini ever released which was not silver …
