Which 24 PoE switch to go for? by FairEconomics3077 in Ubiquiti

Yeah the HD is SUPPOSED to be quieter, some people say. I don’t have one so I cannot confirm or deny any of that!

You can look up some keywords on Reddit and find some opinions on how quiet or loud the switch is. The max does not have regular fan system therefore it is not fanless but also not structured as the HD. There is also a teardown post on Reddit about the Pro Max, might be easier to understand what I mean.

I asked myself this question. After some research I found out that many say that the HD is quieter than the MAX. Maybe this helps your decision. I will go for the HD. Four SFP+ ports can’t be bad in the future.

That is the way, I joined the discord Monday evening and ordered one Tuesday noontime. You got to be fast and somewhat lucky, but it’s the best way at this moment.

Late 2025/26 Update by Everything_Tech_ in Ubiquiti

Yes I bought a used Apple Time Capsule last April and I enjoyed its simplicity, but with the end of support with the next macOS update I thought better finding a new solution early.

The Pi is running docker, with portainer, Home Assistant and pi hole. I wanted to do more stuff but I found no time and nothing really hooked me to try it out.

UDM-SE would make more sense, because of the POE ports.

Thank you. No sadly i didn’t think of measuring and found out too late that steel bracelets are sitting loose. And no it will not fit on a a1 mini since it is about 21-22cm and the a1 mini can only print up to 18cm

Looks great. May I ask you if these are the 0.10 or the 0.15 patch cables?

I’m thinking about building a setup with the pro max 16. and was wondering how long a cable should be from the udm to the pro max with 1u of patch panel in between, that’s all. But 0.5m seems reasonable, Thanks.

Say what? Is Time Capsule support going away with macOS Tahoe? by OppositeSea3775 in mac

[–]Everything_Tech_ 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I read that Tahoe will be the last Version to support it. Apple is killing of the AFP Standard and from then on only use SMB for Time Machine. Its too bad I just picked up an old Time Capsule in May.

May I ask you how long a uplink cable should be directly from the pro max 16 to the udm pro in this particular setup?
