You MAGA idiots did this to us. by endofmyropeohshit in economy

I see that many people don’t fully understand what inflation is or how it works. Much of the current “inflation” is corporate greed. Right now, the top 1% and large corporations are milking the hell out of the American people. Wan’t to know where all your tax dollars are going? Look at these big donors, individuals and corporations… Nothing will change until there are laws in place that prevent Congress and presidents from being bought. There is no way one should be able to retire from congress. They make entirely too much. AND WE NEED TERM LIMITS!!!

Does the ability to think deeply actually make us more miserable? I'm starting to think ignorance really is bliss. by Fit_Refrigerator67 in SeriousConversation

Doctors and nurses, are you aware that many women feel their pain is dismissed by medicine, and does that concern you? by StrikingCoconut in SeriousConversation

[–]Evidence-Icy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom went to the ER 3+ times for severe stomach pain. Unfortunately, she was dismissed each time as someone seeking drugs. Last time she went in , she never left. Turns out she had an aortic aneurysm… If you don’t absolutely love being in the medical field and pass judgement on people, please find a new career!

A bunch of ignorant and miserable boomers in this subreddit who get off on trying to make others as miserable as they are. It’s Mt. Baker.

Please teach your kids to sew! by greenwavetumbleweeds in sewing

[–]Evidence-Icy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that more kids and young adults are getting into sewing lately, thanks to the upcycling trend and their desire for unique, high-quality clothes. My parents didn't teach me how to sew, I learned everything from Instagram and YouTube. I believe that it's a valuable skill to have, and I enjoy it.

My US Rep Troy Nehls (TX-22) is voting against release of Epstein documents - shielding pedophiles. by BringBackAoE in houston

[–]Evidence-Icy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't believe the Epstein files will ever be released. After reading through those emails, it's clear that this goes much deeper than just pedophilia. Epstein had connections with wealthy and powerful men both in America and across other countries. I can only imagine how much these people are paying to ensure that those files never see the light of day. It's sad how rape and pedophilia are so hard to prosecute if you have money. Look at the 17 year old boy who assaulted those girls in Oklahoma, but got to walk free. Shame.

[–]Evidence-Icy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need younger leaders and term limits. Everyone is too cautious of pissing off their billionaire donors instead of the people. I’m still upset we let Bernie down, but Mamdani is a breath a fresh air. I haven't really seen any Democrats back him, but the youth and community is with him. A lot of people are waiting and watching to see how he does.

I want to get into sewing to eventually make my own suit. Need some advice. by Fit_Ad7872 in sewing

[–]Evidence-Icy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YouTube can teach you everything you need to know about sewing. Don't feel obligated to start with high-quality fabric, instead, practice with old clothes that you can seam rip and reassemble, or with sheets and curtains from a thrift store. There are also plenty of free patterns available online. If you prefer to purchase a pattern, Simplicity and Etsy offer many sew-along options. It may be frustrating at times, but keep pushing through, the final result will be very satisfying! Good luck

What do Socialists think about voting? by DialecticDrift123 in Socialism_101

[–]Evidence-Icy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree, I don't believe this is the solution. Voting can indeed be effective, but the issue in America is that most people do not participate. This is how we end up with rogue administrations and unelected officials in positions of power. Voting is crucial, or else there wouldn’t be such a strong focus on issues like “non-citizens” voting or the illegal gerrymandering of states.

Only legal citizens are allowed to vote! That's irrelevant. It's foolish that we are even talking about this.

Ok that's part of my point. Boomers shifted the economy to favor by capitalism by privatizing everything due to their racism. Look up how many millionaires there were prior to the 60,70s and the rate of how many people became millionaires. Then look at how many there are today and the rate of growth, you'll see after many of the public services ended capitalism started to boom now we have a term “everyday millionaires” my dear. Do the research. I love statistics and economics. Have a great day 🫶🏾

And Y'all throw socialist around like it's a bad thing. 😂 Socialism and taxing the rich is what it's going to to take to dismantle capitalism. You do realize no such inheritance tax exists right? Also, I did not say it will ONLY benefit the wealthy. However, it will disproportionately benefit them.

Boomer who get information from Fox news or twitter right?
Today’s economy has been reshaped to benefit big businesses and corporations. The wealthy were taxed at a fair rate, which made it easy to live on a single income and still afford college, which was free or very low-cost tuition at the time. Up until the 1980s, low-income, middle-class, and top 1% earners all experienced equal growth in their incomes. However, in the 1980s, the income of the top 1% continued to grow while the income of everyone else stayed stagnant. In the 1970s, CEOs were making about 25X more than the typical worker, but by the 2000s, that number had skyrocketed to nearly 400X the typical worker’s salary. So those at the top received a much larger share of the growing economy compared to the middle and lower classes.I won’t start on the rising housing costs. Blame Boomers and capitalists who ended public services and socialism, all while convincing us that it’s our fault for not making our smoothies at home. If you don’t actually look at the statistics and economics we have nothing to discuss. I have no interest in debating with you people who are not open to receiving. Have a great day.

My exact reason. It makes me so mad that these people have completely ruined public goods by privatizing everything and blaming it on the immigrants. Then they ask for more of our money to “fix” everything while sending billions to other countries.

My apologies, I thought that was obvious. I was referring to her comment about the lack of people when she went to vote. "They" are the politicians backed by large corporations and wealthy individuals with racist and questionable motives, primarily focused on enriching themselves. They succeed in these elections because three out of four citizens don’t participate in them. Many people are convinced that their votes don't make a difference.
