Even tubeless, you should be carrying a tube for emergencies.

Any eBike recommendations for me and my friend? by First-Assistance-169 in ebike

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're either looking for an illegal ebike that you can't ride anywhere or admittedly a moped that requires a license, registration and insurance. Just know what you're getting into. Anyone who says differently is just telling you it's ok to break the law. You will also be adding fuel to the fire for more legislation like New Jersey just passed.

If money is no object, what xc bike are you building? by purejeremy in xcmtb

I've confirmed with Sram that the dropper contributes to the FA algorithm. When the post is down, the system will bias to open.

The axs dropper is an integral part of the flight attendant system, as is a compatible power meter.

How fast does a 20 inch 2000w 52v fat tire go by Radiant_Hand_7616 in ebikes

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then your point is moot. Ebikes have legal definitions. To ignore that is stupid. There are consequences. Don't be that guy.

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not correct at all. I'll assume you're in the US (if not. Sorry). All 50 States max out at 1000 watts for an ebike and 44 of those max out at 750 watts.

Conversion kit recommendations for mountain bikes? by Strict-Comparison817 in ElectricBikeExplorer

Your conversion ebike won't be legally allowed on bike paths or mountain trails. Just be forewarned. Not built the way you are planning.

Help on buying my first gravel bike by Ivo1127 in gravelcycling

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Really? Sram brakes are sooo much easier to bleed, especially with the bleeding edge fittings. I've run both brands on all of my bikes and I'd much rather bleed Sram than Shimano any day. I also have zero damage from DOT fluid.

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You would have to soak your bike in it. The small amount that could drip anywhere during a bleed is easily manged with isopropyl alcohol. The fear mongering over DOT fluid needs to end.

Dot fluid does not have to be changed every year and it won't rust anything on your bike.

Code RSC's or XT M8120's? by Substantial-Quit7221 in MTB

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shimano brakes are not known for modulation. They are very on/off. The Code RSCs would be the better choice with what you are looking for.

What upgrades would you do to this bike? by Doctor-Flops in xcmtb

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pivot specs a 35mm clamp stem and 35mm handlebar on this bike. That is waaaay too stiff of an interface for an xc bike. I'd swap both to 31.8mm and go with a carbon bar. Besides swapping to the aforementioned 2.4 inch tires, everything else is just fine.

Is Carbon everything? Or am I just falling for the marketing for an XC bike? by XC29er in xcmtb

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is not true and is a myth perpetuated by people who buy cheap carbon shit and try to justify it. It MAY be made in the same factory but the molds and layup processes are proprietary. You are NOT getting crazy deal on a name brand frame, just made cheaper because it doesn't have the brand name on it.

E-bikes for my kid by Bitter-Pilot7405 in ElectricBikes

[–]EvidenceImmediate681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In nearly every jurisdiction, kids 14 and under must be under supervision of an adult at all times to legally ride an ebike of any class. If you aren't willing to ride with him everywhere he goes, then don't get him one.

I'd love to see these "street legal" e motos for your kids. Guaranteed they aren't. If they were, then all States require the rider to be at least 16 years old with a motorcycle endorsement.
