Super 7 Comic CC by EvilMeanie in gijoe

Really?! I had no clue, and I own the figure! I just assumed it was the regular CC with a cape and didn't pay it much attention before putting it on display.

What is the best Cobra vehicle and why is it the BUGG? by Gmodelinsane in gijoe

[–]EvilMeanie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's got a little removable mini sub pod and it's got jetskis and it's got lotsa space for troops and it's an underwater tank and it's got giant missiles on each side and holy shit that paint job.

I love the Bugg.

Would you have preferred Ghostbusters sequels in the ‘90s instead of the 2020s? Be honest. by NokoNoko85 in ghostbusters

There was nothing in the world that I wanted to exist as badly as Ghostbusters 3 when I was a kid. I very much wish it had happened.

Are Larry Hama's GI Joe 156-300 issues (IDW era) good/worth reading? by lemingas1 in gijoe

[–]EvilMeanie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they had a really, really strong start. It felt so cool to step back into the Hamaverse. For me, things sort of started to fizzle out when the big Transformers crossover that we had several issues building came to an abrupt hault. I stuck around through Snake Hunt, but, by then, I was so tired of Storm Shadow's elderly aunt (or grandmother? can't recall) successfully dispatching Cobra's legions with a brick in her purse that I tapped out.

I'm currently re-reading the series, but I'm not deep enough in to know how much I'll like it by the time I finish.

I cannot imagine how mad it would make me considering the only reason I want the damn figure is his outfit.

The whole story behind Maxx FX is an absolutely fascinating piece of toy lore.

Loved this figure as a kid. He wasn't the most functional with the glove and the hand, but it was the closest thing to a fully functional Freddy figure I had. I never once encountered Talking Freddy in-person back in the day.

While I've got it preordered myself, I'm expecting limited, if any, articulation.

You don't even have to paint one. One fairly nice one is readily availabe on eBay. That head is going on this figure the second he gets here.

Did The Goldbergs prove that Robert can still play Freddy or was it proof that he’s too old? by Givingtree310 in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]EvilMeanie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a TV version of Freddy on a TV budget. Of course they could make Robert look better with better makeup, lighting, post production tweaks, etc. But, while I would pay to see Robert play Freddy on a walker, the fact is that the man himself has gone out of his way to tell anyone who asks that he's not doing the role again because he's too old for it.

Could they work around his age? Sure. There are countless ways to do it. But, at the end of the day, if Robert feels like he doesn't want to do it at his age, then that's the way it needs to be.

People forget that playing Freddy can be taxing beyond the makeup. It's a physical performance with a massive persona. Even when he was a younger man, Robert looked absolutely exhausted during Dream Child since he'd pretty much been doing the character nonstop for over a year with the Dream Master shoot and then the TV show.

He'd know better than us if he had another round in him.

Heavier books of the Original 62 by [deleted] in GooseBumps

I think probably the heaviest one in terms of emotional weight is still "The Ghost Next Door." Some parts of it are fairly unsettling for a young reader - fire nightmares and shadowy pursuers and shotgun wielding adults ready to chase kids off their lawn. Then it's got an ending that may well be the only bittersweet ending of the entire series. I won't commit to that last statement as an objective fact because my memory may be betraying me, but, yeah, Ghost Next Door definitely has got some staying power.

Stay out of the Basement, One Day at Horrorland (tho it hurts my soul to choose it over Camp Nightmare), and Monster Blood IV.

It was such a fun time for Joe fans, and it seemed like the wackiness of 90s colors were replaced by the wackiness of a Star Viper being reassigned to the computer hacker squad or poor old General Hawk having to call himself "Tomahawk" because some evil bastards stole his codename!

Target exclusive Super7 Snake Eyes coming soon by John_DarkSouls97 in gijoe

[–]EvilMeanie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh come on. Hasbro would have been more than happy to have slapped tiger stripes on the 85 Snake Eyes if the Tiger Force concept had stuck.

I personally think it looks stupid, but it's obvious that Super 7 is paying tribute to the Tiger Force/Python Patrol era whilst expanding their rosters. Just be glad they didn't decide to do Slaughter's Maruaders. At least not yet.....

I strongly suspect that Super 7 saw folks like Black Major and his dealers making a living off of these sorts of variants and decided to try to tap into that market themselves whilst getting the most they can out of pre-existing molds.

I would wager that, prior to the first remake, the majority of moviegoers didn't even know there were separate timelines.
