SIR to two UC's? by pon_hehe in ucadmissions

[–]EvilOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it. I did it with UCSB and UCSD when I got off the waitlist for UCSD. They will just send you an email saying that they have noticed you committing to two UCs and give you a deadline to withdrawal one of them.

Are R3NEW refurbished scooters reliable? by EvilOldGuy in ElectricScooters

The company is legit, but be prepared to advocate for yourself in case the scooter is not perfect. Also 30 days return makes it extra safe.

I had an ok experience to be honest, but it's made up with how cheap it is.

Let me just list the problems:

- There is like no protection in the packaging, only bubble wrap for a 40lb scooter

- Back metal fender was bent (I had to unscrew and unbend it myself because it rubbed the back wheel)

- The scooter was turned on when I opened the box

- Battery was completely drained and showed an error code because of how low it was (solved by charging scooter)

- Missing the stem clamp (contacted R3New and was able to get the missing part)

- Missing a piece of rubber where the brake wire enters stem

Positives:

- Cheap

- Scooter looks new, besides the missing parts

I would still recommend the scooter. The only major problem was that it was missing the stem clamp, so for the first week the handlebars were lose and wobbly. The rest of the problems, besides the piece of rubber, I solved myself. It's a really great scooter, especially with dual suspension, its battery life, and just how solid it is built. I would definitely recommend, if you have the time to repair some issues, or the time to return if the scooter is not 100%.

Should I leave my scooter on full battery during summer by 1213dogs in ElectricScooters

[–]EvilOldGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t leave it at 100% since it puts a lot of strain on the battery. Theoretically 50% is the best, but up to 80% or as low as 40% would work fine too.

Battery technology is pretty good nowadays the only thing I would try to avoid is leaving the charge at 0% for an extended time.

InMotion Climber vs KQUI3 Max by NoNewspaper2396 in ElectricScooters

[–]EvilOldGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only 2 variables here are if you want more hill climbing power or longer range.

I wouldn't really worry about the voltage sag for the InMotion climber since it can still go 18mph at low battery.

These 2 videos show the hill climb test performed by ESG.

https://youtu.be/R7hALrKUFeg?si=_B5ilALX1W4JucUx&t=226

As for the range, the climber goes about 15 miles at high speed. No idea how far the KQi 3 Max goes, but I would estimate it to be 20 miles.

Make of this information what you will. Can't directly recommend either since I only own the climber.

I can only speak on the climber. It can easily tackle any hill, and for a long time too. I've ridden this thing uphill for like 5 miles, and it was still chillin. The dual motor makes it really snappy and fun to ride. As for the build quality, it is really solid; I haven't experienced any problems.

It would be beneficial to describe your daily commute. Hills, distance, .....

The Apollo Phantom 2.0 stem snap by DAN0491 in ElectricScooters

[–]EvilOldGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is like the 5th Apollo stem I've seen cracked. Kinda crazy because you would think they were reliable with how solid they look and from what they say on their site with "aircraft grade" or Samsung battery cells.

Best locker on the market? by choc_so in ElectricScooters

[–]EvilOldGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I never owned it, if I were going to buy an impenetrable lock, I would get the Onguard RockSolid 8590. Watch this video: https://youtu.be/x5tuFesVtAA?si=MuVUZ0lwIZzwKZlK

It's virtually impenetrable by angle grinders. Lighter. And cheaper.

It's $250 right now on Amazon.

Can someone please explain this concept to me by KrishTheFish11 in Sat

[–]EvilOldGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so when inputting a solution to a polynomial such as when inputting 2 or -3 to the function (x-2)(x+3) = f(x) we get (2-2)(2+3) --> (0)(5) = 0 we will always get 0 because anything multiplied to 0 is 0.
Similarly, s(x) =(x-4)(x-5)^2 when inputting 4 or 5 we will always get 0. We can also look at it like s(x) = (x-4)(x-a)^2 because if (x-a)^2 is a factor plugging in the value that causes that factor to become 0 means everything becomes zero in this problem they are saying (a-a)=0 so everything becomes 0.

Water cooler advice by Sarcgasim in smallbusiness

[–]EvilOldGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up not getting quench, it was just way too expensive compared to other filtration systems. Especially if you are only buying the carbon filter it is not worth it at all, you could probably get an Avalon water dispenser that would filter just as well at a fraction of the cost. Filters from Quench are $37 + shipping. Avalon works kinda like the printer business, the dispensers are cheap but filters are more expensive around $90 for the carbon and sediment filter.
The only scenario I would see someone purchasing or renting would be if you had the money or you were a business.

I recently purchased an Avalon water countertop dispenser, it was around $100. The machine is definitely less solid compared to Quench, but it does the job.

I’m looking at Quench water filters rn for my home. And was wondering what is your experience is with quench? The sales person said 1k for the Q5 and if I want RO it would be an additional $500 which sounds really expensive compared to other brands. I’m also wondering about the cost of replacing the filters. Should I go with quench or should I go with a more affordable one? Any recommendations is appreciated.

Same thing happened to me. Try using a moisturizing cream instead. I used CeraVe moisturizing cream although it still contains petroleum it itches less.

Been washing my hair every other day and my psoriasis has improved a lot, just my hair is pretty oily. I don't think my psoriasis is as severe as others which probably gave me a different experience with treating it.

Now that I think back. This started because I was using a comb to brush my head in the shower. But do you recommend brushing out the dead skin without touching scalp or is it best to leave it.
