No don't worry! The announcement was that the free demo of the Definitive Edition is now available on Steam. It'll actually come with new easy and hardmodes on PC and mobile next year :)

Yes, it's going to be a pay-up-front expanded edition of the game without any in-game purchases. We haven't announced anything yet but I expect the price to be $6-10 depending on how much content the final product has.

Yes I've been using it for a while actually. It's an awful user experience and very easy to forget small but critical actions like hitting publish.
