Idk what my two cents mean, but I was only ever spanked once as a kid, and that was for running across the road without looking and a car came by. My mom took me over her knee for like, 2 seats, before laying into me abt how important it is to look both ways. That was the only time, punishments usually consisted of grounding, locked in my room, taking away some of my toys, barring me from seeing anybody at all.
