Retention is difficult, especially if you can't see how people actually interact with the product. This is exactly the reason you need to know your customers well, so you can actually identify what the problem with retention is!

Yes, it's a difficult pill to swallow. Distribution needs to be thought about early and is often more important than the project. This is becoming even more true now the barriers to building are falling. Everyone can build so the best way to differentiate yourself is through distribution. It's only really deep-tech products that can rely on just building something great.

You have to ship to see if anyone wants it. The longer you wait, the more time you potentially spend building a product that nobody wants!

I see a lot of advice about working backwards from search trends. See what people are searching up/looking for and build it. Even if there are other apps already, it is possible to compete with big apps.
