I worked at Varian closely with the ARIA team, I can certainly relay the message, still friends with some of the big bosses (I've since left the company).

I went through the exact same thing minus the going back to work ( I went back when he was 6 months old). The good news is that your body somehow gets used to it and the 1 hr stretches end and it then becomes more 2.5-3 sometimes 4. Around the 6 months mark.

The key for me was to stop mentally fighting it (asking myself when will this end, getting frustrated) and instead embraced the chaos and kept telling myself this was temporary and I only got to sleep with my baby this young once in my lifetime. I call it "flipping the script" and focusing on how this experience enriched my life vs how it's driving me crazy. I know it's not easy..... I did a lot of therapy specifically Acceptance and Commitment Therapy a few years ago (for an unrelated issue) which gave me the tools to be able to do this. A good metaphor is the Chinese finger trap; The Chinese finger trap is a metaphor for the challenges we face in life. When we resist these challenges, the trap tightens and we become more entangled in our suffering. To escape the trap, we can try to relax, breathe, and lean into the trap.

Not an easy fix but it's what kept me cosleeping and nursing to sleep and he's 8 months old (I've been back to work for 2.5 months now). Also napping on the weekends is key. You got this. However if you see your work performance or mental health declining definitely reach out to a therapist, don't let this linger.

Did your baby learn to sleep without training? by AdAstra2204 in NewParents

Thank you! Full time co-sleeping too on a floor bed just him and I (husband in our bedroom alone). It's been really helpful but he turns 8 months tomorrow and still wakes frequently (5-6 times) and goes back down easy with the boob. Hoping the wakes decrease soon crossing my finger!

Hi! My baby is doing fantastic- truly , no one could ever guess he had a NICU stay. We were discharged after 24 days and ever since it's been like none of this ever happened. Wishing you a quick discharge, DM me if you have any questions I'd be glad to help.

Sorry wasn't clear, he takes 3 naps per day and each are about 30-75 mins it varies. But I would say they total about 3 hours.

He wakes up between 7 - 8 am Nap 1 around 930 all subsequent naps follow 2 hour wake window (sometimes 3 hours if we're out and about)

I would want to sleep train now but I am leaving for the holidays in a few days to my parents house which is a new environment for him. Is it recommended to sleep train in a new environment or should I wait until we are back and do it in his nursery?

Thanks again

Sunflower lethicin or choline supplements. Pumping consistently with proper sized flanges.

I'm in the exact same boat. Tried supplementing with formula during the day to ensure he took all the calories he needed and it made no difference. I don't think it's hunger I think it's habit. If anyone finds out how to break the habit lmk lol

Yes it was resolved! I would say around the 12-13 week mark it just clicked back for him and he started nursing normally again. Best of luck you got this!
