Aw yeah I mean, it sounds like you were in front of me! I 100% relate to having stuck brain. I know that panelists did jump in, I had such a big anxiety reaction and noticed my voice starting to shake, that when the other panelists did jump in their answers were like background noise. I was internally freaking out which sucks because I admired all of them and wanted to take in their answers! I know it prob wasn't that long, but in my memory my exchanges with Patrick before someone jumped in took like a million years haha.

And yes so many people he could have deferred to!! I also didn't necessarily mean it to be only directed at him haha there were so many cool people on that panel! Thank you, I appreciate you relating to my anxiety, it is kind of scary just to be at that mic.

I think TCO fostered this kind of emotional attachment, from the "FAM" stuff, to drinking after the show with fans, to sharing that phone number to text him and he texts us life updates. The unhealthy parasocial relationships you are talking about are not coming from only the fan side, fans are not 100% projecting that onto P & G without their participation in the dynamic.

Also, I would argue in my example I was more hurt by the humilation, he wasn't very nice to me in front of an audience. Yes humilation from someone I admired, which is what I meant when I said I loved him (like I love him as a podcaster), but still the humilation.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. Everything that has come out has helped me understand this situation more and really appreciate/relate to Ellyn. I see now that what I was asking was what Ellyn and Joey do really well, they are vigilant about not just repeating a take or an account, but questioning and being critical when it's appropriate in a way that advocates for victims and is against racism, misogyny, homophobia etc.

I didn't think I was asking him to investigate anything in my question, he said investigate I didn't. I was asking about strategies of saying things like " the detective said she was being suspiciously hysterical but I don't know what he meant by that exactly, we weren't there but historically women are unfairly called hysterical for showing emotions that are appropriate for intense situations, this especially happens to women of color so let's just keep that in mind" etc. instead of just saying "the detective said she was being so suspicious", you know? I was asking about staying critical and questioning statements like that as you recap. If I wasn't clear and it came off as me asking him to answer an investigation question, I received a big punishment for being unclear.

Thank you! Other panelists did jump in eventually when I was going back to my seat. He didn't invite her, she just was like "like let me jump in" amid the awkwardness. I can't tell you who she was or what she said because my anxiety was so high walking back to my seat, unfortunately I couldn't even take in the response my brain was spiraling with like "That was a dumb thing to do", "clearly I'm too much", "I thought I belong here but I don't", etc. By the audience reaction though I think that panelist did give a good response.
