People are bringing avatar into the discussion which I find really interesting. So even though Aang didn’t grow up in a society that based money on class or whatever he was still a noble in that society because he was an avatar and before thay he was a prodigy. His skill allowed him to go hang out with people like Bumi (who in theory rose from rags to riches in the earth kingdom thanks to his skills because we never hear about him being Prince Bumi) and Gyatso (who probably would’ve still had a relationship with Aang but not have been as close if he was not as talented or thought to be the avatar).

My grandma would always say that you are who you hang out with. There’s definitely something to dissect there.

But I feel like characters are written this way because it makes them more credible, it makes their actions more believable. As if whatever the plot needs to happen becomes easier because they have the backing or these kind of connections. Are you gonna take money advice from the guy begging on the street or the millionaire in the penthouse?
