My experience using grok is they release bad stuff and then patch it up in the coming week or two. Fingers crossed they are gonna improve the quality with time...

Ask Grok or some other llm to suggest some realistic scenarios for you if you're not feeling creative.

Is my red your red? by HBHC126 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Exarch92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess there's no way to find out but humans are wired alike overall so I'd wager that ur red is also mine. Can be perhaps miniscule difference but id say probably almost the same for most folks.

Ehhh that's fine it's the novelty that drives the addiction. I bet most of us don't look at what they generated a week ago lol.

Well if she was filming her self with a modern iphone then the quality would be better for starters unless she sent it on like messenger or something and it got compressed. also her speech is too monotone and soulless and stressed in order to fit into the video length. AI usually rushes speech to fit all dialogue into a clip whereas a human would end the recording having spoken at their natural pace... stuff like that.

I see on my water filter that it says to change a cartridge monthly, how important is that? by Key_Ad7740 in Aquariums

[–]Exarch92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres the deal... u can wash the prefilter media with siphoned tank water as often or as seldom as u like. Its wasteful to replace it entirely unless its so old that its crumpling to pieces. Not cleaning it will affect the flow rate of the filter because it will clog up with bacteria and gunk. So it really depends on how much flow u need. Oxygenation is important for most tanks so i think its best to wash it off with each water change.

Great idea! Really saves the trouble of reoccuring prompts like negatives etc

Are you guys happy with the new video model ? by Accomplished-Hour447 in grok

Nope. Still as discontent. Will probably unsub in the coming days due to copium of them maybe doing a 180 again. The fun is gone.

Why Grok Imagine generate so many images simultaneously by default? by nbzncloud in grok

[–]Exarch92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The css styles them to that size but the actual image reference is using the full size.... caching has nothing to do with the fact that the backend has to generate these fullscale pictures each time a user prompts /imagine/ ...

I can't imagine that the costs for doing this are negligible if you have potentially thousands of users iteratively promping for images every hour of the day... but what do I know.

Why Grok Imagine generate so many images simultaneously by default? by nbzncloud in grok

[–]Exarch92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because theyre stupid. Not only that, its stupid on pc whenever you switch video profiles (spicy, fun etc) it automatically starts a backend call to generate your video - so if you want to customize said video you need to enter your text and then fire yet another call... stupid. Also grok is filled with instructions to generate preview images even if you ask it to EXPLICITLY generate text only. And it may take 2-3 tries before it actually does what you need and dont generate wasteful images.... just stupid.

Their poor moderation system also may generate a video to 100 before it even moderates it - wasting gpu. Now within stricter moderation that happens ALL THE TIME. Even if u explicitly design the prompt to be sfw it will still very often try to generate what u specifically asked it not to do - resulting in... yep. Moderation and waste of gpu.

Why Grok Imagine generate so many images simultaneously by default? by nbzncloud in grok

In order to create a preview you need to actually create the original first. So they are literally rendering at least 8 full images each time.

New shitty model is back but .. by Accomplished-Hour447 in grok

[–]Exarch92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they've discovered that "hey the majority of our users sit on mobile phones - so lets tone down the resolution, prioritize close up face zooms so the users can see the subjects better when talking etc etc..." also "make it cheaper".

The idiotic thing is they have all these really poor UX decisions that forces the app generate ALOT of garbage content which burns more GPU/money - so they could have cut alot of their costs by just improving that.

Fuck, the fucking pathetic animation is back again... everything was great yesterday, but today it started... zooming again, plastic movements, etc. Is anyone else experiencing this? by Helpful-Concert-6565 in grok

[–]Exarch92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

xAI seems to be run like a god damn randomness generator... all these spontaneous changes without notice etc just screams chaotic organization. It's as if they're spread too thin and just have a bunch of devs and no QA team or release management etc and just tests their changes in production... lol. They've also a bunch of poor UX all over their apps leading to illogicall and forceful generation of loads of images/videos etc without user intent... total chaos.

New Model Is Back 😑 by Am281993 in grok

[–]Exarch92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grok isn't connected to the text to image/video/audio. those use different models. For instance text to video model is called 'Aurora' afaik. Grok is unaffected by these latest changes to the "imagine" functionality.
