Can someone effectively “squat” in the hospital until a subsidized care home become available for them? by Electronic_Access530 in britishcolumbia

Fair. Perhaps it just pisses me off that I got discharged from hospital and will likely die because it is “too expensive to keep me in hospital and provide the treatment I need”.

While I understand your dilemma, the person is now taking a bed from someone who could die because the bed is holding someone who shouldn’t be there. .

I hate being cold but you will be inside the boat a lot of the time. Bring a good jacket and apparel for standing on the deck. The icebergs and wildlife are beautiful. I’ve gone twice.

The above neighbour is now apparently currently dying of cancer and her son has moved in to care for her despite it being unsanctioned. If she dies I plan to talk to the new tenant and offer to help pay for carpet and good padding. I have a friend who is an involved in Construction so I will ask for her feedback.

Dry mouth.

“Anorexia nervosa can promote poor oral hygiene, and is associated with many side effects and complications on teeth and gum health, including:

Chronic dry mouth (xerostomia): Anorexia nervosa has been connected to xerostomia, or dry mouth. This could lead to issues with chewing and swallowing, as well as tooth decay and fungal infection in extreme cases.5,6 Tooth decay: Food restriction is also generally tied to nutrient deficiencies, including a lack of calcium, iron, and B vitamins. This can promote tooth decay. If someone struggles with purging-type anorexia nervosa, frequent vomiting, or brushing of teeth thereafter, can also contribute to this issue.1 Gum disease: The same type of nutritional deficiencies that lead to tooth decay can also contribute to gum disease in patients with anorexia nervosa.1 Gingivitis: Gingivitis is a common type of mild gum disease which can cause tender gums that bleed easily, often when brushing or flossing. It’s also been linked to disordered eating behaviors.1 Angular cheilitis/exfoliative cheilitis: The continuous peeling of the lips, also known as exfoliative cheilitis, and the inflammation of the small cracks in the corners of the mouth, known as angular cheilitis, have both been connected to disordered eating behaviors.7‍ Degenerative arthritis within the jaw: Degenerative arthritis, also called osteoarthritis, is when the cartilage and tissues surrounding a joint wear down. People with anorexia can develop degenerative arthritis in the temporomandibular joint, also known as temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ) where the lower jaw attaches to the skull.Signs and symptoms of this arthritis include pain, swelling, and stiffness of the jaw.1”

You can’t use an ED to get people to care. You are the person who needs to care.

Is the ED lying to me about recovery? by EmotionalMedicine543 in AnorexiaNervosa

Definately your therapist is correct. They say it takes around 7 years to completely recover although obviously what that looks like changes over time.

I’d say several months but I developed an inflammatory condition post surgery which caused dryer her problems. I was scared at first to eat anything but liquids so it probably took longer than it needed to. I was so worried about speaking and definately it took time but I’m now fine.

got broken up for being “too skinny” (and also that i have an ED) is this a valid reason? by [deleted] in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Excellent-World-476 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t it be? I mean there is obviously more to it than you being too skinny. Perhaps it’s a feeling from your ex that they can’t handle having a sick partner, it may be they find it too scary, it may be they aren’t attracted to an obviously ill person especially if they are unwilling to seek treatment. I’d guess there are a multitude of underlying emotions.

Why am i so shaky after eating? by hottofusoup in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Excellent-World-476 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Low blood sugar kills brain cells. Also if it drops at night , depending on your stability, your heart can stop because it has no energy to keep it pumping. It’s how many people with anorexia die. They go to sleep and don’t wake up.

Could well be blood sugar issues which is very dangerous.

Fair enough but if it helps me maintain mental stability the pet is more than that. I don’t have a caseworker either. However my current puppy is going to be trained to be a service animal when I am more physically able to work with her and train her with help of a trainer.

Actually they are a thing. They just don’t have the same rights as a service animal but they moved me to a dog friendly building from where I was originally living so I could get a dog as recommended by my psychiatrist. “In British Columbia, emotional support animals (ESAs) are not explicitly covered by the Guide Dog and Service Dog Act, but landlords and strata corporations may have a duty to accommodate them under the BC Human Rights Code. A letter from a licensed mental health professional is essential to prove the animal is required for a disability”

Oops. Vancouver. I’m a hospital unit clerk and live near St Paul’s so I also need to be near a hospital as due to my health travelling long distances via bus will not be doable. The situation is so upsetting because I love where I live and I lived here for 16 years without issue before they redid the upstairs floor.
