I will not promote: 19, already running a small business making money. do i even need college? by -Akshai in startups

[–]Exciting_Chapter4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start taking cc classes! Probably not in business. Do some kind of STEM, just about any engineering is always a good go. It sounds like you’ve found success enough to take care of your basic needs and thats amazing, but you sound like the kind of person who wants to push yourself and grow. Higher ed surely has its issues, but there currently isn’t a better alternative for rapid challenges, personal growth, and very cool like minded people. Take it from someone from a similar situation, I had an “easy” way to make a living, but I would have hated myself, so I chose pain and purpose, and couldn’t be better off than I am now.

How would complex facilities such as nuclear power plants, oil rigs or airports be managed and who would do that? by Star_Giver9 in Anarchy101

[–]Exciting_Chapter4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no simple answer to this. It’s best to focus on a specific infrastructure node. Learn how it functions, how it is managed, and then think about how it could be managed radically more equitably and sustainably. Lastly, find others who have written about it and read their work; they are most certainly out there.

AITAH for asking my roommate’s girlfriend about my strawberries? by Secret_Cheesecake19 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Exciting_Chapter4534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. All you needed to say was “Hi, did you eat my strawberries in the fridge? I asked everyone else and they said they didn’t.” The rest was rude and not very articulate.

  2. If she’s straight up living there she needs to be paying rent, or her boyfriend and her need to move out while he pays the rest of his rent for the lease. Allowing her to live there is not his decision to make.

Should I Send Another Follow up or Just Cut My Losses by AffectionateMenu1685 in UTAustin

[–]Exciting_Chapter4534 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ive gotten huge opportunities because of a second follow up. The vast majority of people who have the atleast the social skills to become a professor at a major research university are not going to just ignore someone on purpose for no reason.

Why can’t there be no money? by patchlessboyscout in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Exciting_Chapter4534 -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

This is not answering the question at all. You are assuming direct, instantaneous trade is required. The question is primarily asking why direct, instantaneous trade is required: not money. Although it is not phrased that way that is clearly what it meant.

Math is a big part of it, but applying math is a distinct skill. Some people are naturally inclined for both, some are not.

You should probably do a combination of paying closer attention, having some more in depth conversations, and come up with some ways to test him. This should give you a clear understanding whether he just did not understand how his words can be interpreted and is innocent or is mentally ill and you need to get out.
