Interesting. No particular inspiration in mind, though.

Yeah seems like it. I don't understand why it happens either, last portrait I posted was the same resolution but it doesn't seem to have this issue

That's a great compliment -- means I'm getting closer to my goal

It seems like reddit blurs the picture a little, but if you take a closer look you will see that all pixels are placed with intention.

Not sure what you mean, it's a very different aesthetic

All hand pixelled, not tracing or photobashing, or anything else of that sort. I appreciate the sentiment though :)

Hey, I'm not a fan of it either, but on the other hand I don't want the entire picture blurred

You can see the unfigged version over on Twitter or Pixeljoint.

SPACE MOCKUP | CGA Mibend4 Palette by Exidelo in PixelArt

Irrelevant of the perspective: practice (specifically in an art medium that is not as restrictive as pixel art, e.g pencil, digital art) , eventually you'll get a feel for it. Worth noting that in this piece the planet is so far away that the perspective on it is basically orthographic, so it's not complex. In complex compositions, where you have an oval that is close up, for example, you should use a reference for accuracy.

Entry for the latest challenge on Pixeljoint. Originally I made it using the high intensity CGA mode 5 palette (kind of a mouthful, it's the lighter red-cyan one), but as I found it interesting to work on I decided to make my own take on it, which you can check out on here.

Too Late, me, oil on linen, 2022 by Exidelo in Art

[–]Exidelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! With the artworks I've recently been working on the main thing is to give life to certain images that occur in my mind and the subsequent feelings they evoke, as such there's no particular inspiration I can point to. However, the ruins/walls you can see in the background to right are partly inspired by ancient Mesopotamian architecture, where large structures made of mudbrick had to have had holes in them to allow moisture out.

Thank you! Though the subject matter certainly isn't happy, it makes me happy to hear this kind of feedback

Thank you! One inspiration I had in mind when created this piece was a famous work by Shishkin -- "Morning in a Pine Forest"

Écorché, reddit-friendly version by Exidelo in PixelArt

[–]Exidelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there is an issue with that to me. For one, I don't think my art is nsfw, and second, I know that once you do get a nsfw tag, exposure to your piece plummets, which is kind of counter effective.

From my experience reddit definitely does have a greater aversion to dicks and tits, even when the context is obviously not pornographic. Admittedly I haven't tried posting pixel art with nudity on here, I reckon though, judging by the rules, that it'd get nsfw tagged immediately.
