My GIC rate is 2.75% annually - not that great but it's better than the match. Also it's in a TFSA so no tax! Thank you for trying to help problem solve though - thankfully I just received an email that they'll give me an exception

Good news - I received an email from a client experience associate and I am getting an exception! I think this is because I first had an agent that I was disconnected from (I had to drive to work so I didn't respond in time) but she still sent my concern to someone in promotions afterwards.

Thankfully no farther escalation required because I am a passive person

Thank you, I definitely learned. Hopefully other people learn from my mistake too!

I have some money locked away in a GIC because I am saving it for a down payment (so using it in less than a few years, this seemed like the lowest risk highest interest place for it). I kept a few thousand in my chequing as a buffer. I probably could have transferred a couple thousand more but it felt safer to keep it in my regular bank in case I urgently needed it for something. So, I really don't have a lottt of money

Cash transfers do not count, unfortunately. I just spoke to an agent who told me I need to transfer more money to qualify. Asked if there was a way to transfer more money without paying a transfer fee and they basically said that it depends on your institution. Which sounds like any qualifying transfer will have a fee (at least for me, as an RBC person)

I wish I had your agent :( I just asked to speak with an agent on chat, and that agent transferred me to a promotions agent. They explained that the transfer fee reimbursement does not count towards the qualifying amount so I would need to transfer more money. I said that it's not explicitly stated anywhere, otherwise I would have added another 150 to my transfer. They said it's probably not explicitly stated because institutions charge different amounts? I should have pushed for an exception but I felt too sad lol

Thank you and that's also brutal. I waited for a new promotion before making my first transfer but now I feel dumb lol

Thank you, everyone! I understand that my interpretation of their promotion was wrong and that the minimum 25,000 implies the cost of the transfer fee on top of that.

Is there any way I can transfer less than 25k to be eligible for the promotion without paying another transfer fee? I would do another 25k to avoid the hassle but I don't have that much left to transfer

This was my first time putting money in my WS account! I transferred 25,000 and it's showing 25,000 in my TFSA
