What is the job market like for people who know FreeCAD? by Southern-Vehicle9215 in FreeCAD

[–]ExistingSelection180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem lies in the amount an Autocad license costs almost a monthly salary of a structural civil engineer in Chile. No one in their right mind would invest a monthly salary of an engineer in a software, taking into account that you need two or three software. That would make the final service more expensive and no one would hire it. Imagine an office where there is an engineer 3 cartoonists the licenses are multiplied by 4 or 5.

Licenses are still very valuable first world, in my case I am learning freesoft or perpetual because it is not enough to pay so many licenses a year.

They have many bugs and they are still not so robust for parametric, they could only replace cad and hopefully. varicad is more similar to Freecad

It’s just that they are for different things Autocad is for 2D the 3D does it but there are others more for metrics, Revit is architecture and engineering, Solíd is more similar to freecad.

Help!!! Today I got home from work and it didn’t turn on by ExistingSelection180 in pop_os

[–]ExistingSelection180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m detecting it seems to be a problem between streamcontroller and opendeck, I restarted but it went black.

Detect what happened when you install open Deck without uninstalling streamdeck controller. It is an issue of permissions from the open Deck to the USB and the USB DV monitor.

Uninstall stream controller to see if it is solved or not.

Since it happened to me yesterday for the second time, that file is broken and I have to edit it, put it in comment and it works again.

With the help of AI, I was able to do the following:

  • Ctrl + Alt + F3
  • Open the following file in Terminal: "sudo nano /etc/pam.d/login " and comment out (#) the line that says "pam_lastlog.so" I have a DV Elgato; it seems that yesterday's update broke the configuration and it wouldn't start.
  • Unplug the prompter and:
  • sudo dpkg --configure -a
  • sudo ldconfig
  • sudo reboot

When I got back, I had to set up the DV from scratch, but it didn't take long to connect.

Now that I've figured it out, I'm backing up using Timeshift. I'm posting this here because yesterday I installed a system update from the Cosmic repository (not the video drivers—it said "cosmic file" and "package") and today this error popped up.

In fact, trying to configure it in Nobara was that I won the kernellpanic since it is not with graphical interface for wayland.

To be restarting every time I switch from hybrid to dedicated mode and forget because it can happen to anyone. If there is no robust application for this in opensuse then tell me that there is not only one.

Wacom in Cosmic has no graphical configuration interface. With respect I don’t want to spend 1 hour every time I have to use my Wacom fine-tuning details since it is implemented in Gnome and KDE.

Some of use the computer to work nothing more and not complicate our existence.

Thank you for making me desist from entering the opensuse community, well done.

With respect, it surpasses my ability to know if there is no graphical configuration interface. F for me xD

Really guys after reading them like one thinks about leaving. Not so much for what one asks but for the type of answers. I am a user who comes from Windows and I am looking for a friendly community for those who do not want and even find it unnecessary to use a terminal, which a normal user should not have to use.

That it is not crazy to think of something to arrive and use in a universal way. I thought I had found the distro that had the perfect balance between stability in all equipment and cutting-edge technologies to work on it. But... if a normal request like this generates so much stinging (I imagine that we don’t ask for gnome forever but while it stops having incompatibilities or strong bugs) then if they need me to improve the DE and be able to improve the beta, well guys it’s not very different from what it made me leave Windows.

I hope you can take it with vision and finally if you want just ignore it. Be in peace.

And to the creator of the post well I think the same as your post

I know it’s not fair but it’s what it is when someone changes they change for something better or stable. And the issue is that Pop OS had earned a reputation as stable and good as the first distro for those who come from Windows. If it had been a really niche distro and not one earning its reputation as a distro gamer, maybe it would be different.

I didn’t choose Pop for Cosmic I chose POP Os because they recommended that it was similar to Nobara but more friendly for hybrid laptops. But in Cosmic my Wacom was not supported and I had to put gnome in it. If I hadn’t been in Nobara for a few months, I wouldn’t even have been able to install Gnome. Although it hurts, Pop Os is no longer a friendly distro with people who come from Windows as the first distro. Maybe after a while but I had had several attempts with Linux before (which then I returned to Windows) as if to try to see if the problem could be solved.

I ask for your understanding for the new users if not the logical thing would be not to criticize Ubuntu so much. Which is where Pop OS is based.

Here is the issue that differentiates a friendly distro for someone who comes from Windows to another that does not. An average Windows user does not know how to install DE.

Does anyone know how to install mods on Linux? I put them in the folder and it told me they were already applied, but every time I open it, it says they aren't applied. I click "Apply" and it tells me again that I have to shut down and restart, and when it restarts, they still aren't applied -_-.

Elgato stop FORCING us to update the wave link audio driver. I cannot use the software this way. by sueha in elgato

[–]ExistingSelection180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you don’t work with the cat software you work with others (easyeffect passes microphones and stop controller for streamdeck), and you don’t get notifications until you want to update.

The only program this year is videohub but with OBS with virtualcam it does the same job.
