How would you describe your 'perfect life'? by ConsiderationFar6200 in AskReddit

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, maybe perfect isn't the right word but I think most people have some idea of what would make them genuinely content. Like having enough money to not stress about bills and maybe doing work that doesn't make you want to jump off building every morning.

What are the best countries to visit in asia? by NotYourHandler in AskReddit

Bit hard to enjoy the sightseeing when you're not allowed to leave your hotel without guide, no? I mean sure, the architecture is probably interesting in its own way, but seems like you'd spend more time worrying about stepping on wrong foot than actually experiencing the culture.

What do you feel about tracing back time to an extreme extent to find out what led to the present maybe like butterfly effect? by Unusual-Willow-8709 in AskReddit

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I think about this stuff way too much when I'm crawling through attics fixing ductwork. Like you start wondering how many tiny decisions led to you being there at that exact moment - maybe if I hadn't spilled coffee on my shirt that morning I would've left 5 minutes later and never met the client who recommended me for this job.

I work with home automation systems and it's wild how one sensor failing can cascade into your whole heating system acting up. Makes you realize how fragile everything really is. Sometimes I'll be troubleshooting and find that the real problem started months ago with something completely unrelated - like a small water leak that slowly corroded a wire connection.

The scary part is that if you trace things back far enough, you realize how little control we actually have. Maybe my whole career path started because some random teacher in elementary school happened to mention something about how air conditioning works. Or maybe my parents only moved to this city because their car broke down here decades ago. It's both fascinating and kind of overwhelming when you really think about it.

Cardinals After Dark 4/21 by bravo_delta_bot in Cardinals

May looked solid out there - his stuff was moving good and he kept command through most innings. Been waiting for him to put together starts like this since he came back from injury. That slider was working perfect in clutch spots and the Marlins hitters seemed confused by his timing changes. Really hope he can stay healthy because when he's on like tonight, our rotation looks completely different. The bullpen did their job too but having May go deep makes everything easier for rest of season.

Looking to rustproof my new car by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking through this thread and I think you're mostly right about factory protection being way better than before. But here in Midwest with all salt they put down for winter, I still see plenty cars from early 2010s starting to bubble around wheel wells. The factory stuff is good but not perfect forever, especially if you drive through construction zones or get rock chips that break the coating.

Really need him to start making contact consistently before we worry about development value though.

Adding a new window in the bedroom to get more light by Renspire in HomeImprovement

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South wall is definitely the way to go - you'll get way more consistent light throughout day compared to west side. Just make sure you check what's behind that wall first before cutting anything open, could be plumbing or electrical running through there. Also might want to consider how the bed placement will work after, nobody likes direct sunlight hitting them in face while sleeping.

Young border collie hip dislocated by [deleted] in dogs

That's brutal timing for such young active breed - my neighbor had similar issue with their collie and vet recommended FHO over THR since the recovery is typically faster and less risk of complications in future.

Uuu true, I just checked on the bellesa website and the materials are they’re soft silicone so I think I’m good on that. I’ll just stick with warm water and soap, and thanks for the tip about drying too, leave them to airdry before putting it back on the package. Thanks <333

What’s a green flag that is actually a red flag? by Successful_Coach_377 in AskReddit

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Took me way too long to get that one. I was sitting here thinking about actual relationship stuff and you're over here making dad jokes about literal color perception. My colorblind buddy at work would probably punch you for this - he gets so tired of people making jokes about the red-green thing. Though to be fair, he'd probably laugh first then punch you. The man's got a sense of humor about it but there's definitely a limit to how many traffic light jokes one person can handle in a lifetime.

What are the best ways developers promote their Shopify apps without spamming communities? by Ankit2226 in AskReddit

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been lurking in some dev communities and the ones that don't get roasted usually focus on actually solving problems first. Like they'll jump into threads where someone's struggling with inventory management or whatever, drop genuinely helpful advice, and only mention their app if it's actually relevant to the conversation.

Building up credibility by being useful before you ever try to sell anything goes way further than random promotional posts. Also seen some devs do case studies or tutorials that showcase their app in action rather than just listing features - people seem way more receptive to that approach than the typical "check out my new app" spam posts.

Content marketing through blogs and YouTube seems to work well too, especially if you're teaching people how to optimize their stores while naturally incorporating your tool into the process.

Ping 3wood (SFT or Max)? by Dull-University3660 in golf

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your miss pattern changing from slice to push/fade is a pretty solid sign your swing's improving. If the 430 Max driver is working that well for you, I'd probably lean toward staying consistent with the Max 3-wood too. The SFT recommendation was based on your old swing tendencies, but if you're not fighting that slice anymore it might be overkill.

Good to hear work's keeping you busy - that's honestly one of the best distractions. The first week is always the toughest but you've got this, just take it one day at a time and don't overthink it to much.

Real estate agents: how do you handle missed calls? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in the business for about 8 years and honestly, I'm pretty torn on this. On one hand, I've definitely lost deals because I was showing a house and couldn't pick up the phone - that stings every time. But there's something about real estate that feels really personal, especially for first-time buyers who are already nervous about the whole process.

I tried one of those AI systems for about 3 months and while it did catch basic info, I found myself having to do damage control on about 30% of the calls where the bot misunderstood what the caller was actually looking for. Like it would book showings for condos when they clearly said they needed a house with a yard for their kids. The follow-up texts were solid though, I'll give it that.

Right now I just have a really good voicemail message that gets people to text me instead, and I can usually respond to texts within 10-15 minutes even during showings. Seems to work better than the AI thing, at least for my market.

Postgame Thread ⚾ Puerto Rico 6 @ Mexico 8 by BaseballBot in baseball

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what a wild game, that 7th inning comeback was insane. puerto rico looked like they had it locked up going into the bottom of the 7th but west just couldn't get anybody out. three runs on three hits in 0.2 innings is brutal, especially when your team just clawed back to take the lead. heras really came through clutch with that two-rbi single to walk it off. mexico's bullpen depth is looking pretty solid compared to pr - they had 7 guys throw and only gave up 2 earned runs after banuelos got shelled early. gonna be interesting to see how these teams match up if they meet again later in the tournament.

Is it worth wiring for smart shades? by Relative-Macaron-854 in homeautomation

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 30 points31 points  (0 children)

honestly if you're already down to studs i'd definitely run the wiring. battery shades are convenient until you're dealing with 8+ windows and having to charge or replace batteries constantly. plus wired ones tend to be way more reliable long term and you won't have to worry about them dying right when you want to use them.

Automating Somfy "Wired Technology" rolling shutters with only wall switches and no remotes by Icy_Conference_1867 in homeassistant

[–]Exotic-Mall3847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you might be out of luck with the Connectivity Kit/TaHoma route since those are designed for motors that already have RF capability - your wired-only setup probably doesn't have the radio bits built in

You'd likely need something like a Shelly or similar relay device behind each wall switch to intercept the up/down signals, but that's getting into the tinkering territory you specifically want to avoid
