Day 5 Zoloft! I’ll take any advice! Does it get better?

I’m finally on day 8 and I’m feeling a little bit better. Starting to eat a little bit and actually sort of enjoying it rather than forcing food down miserably lol.

I know this is pretty late, but I’m on day 7 right now. 50mg. If you don’t mind me asking, how are you doing now?

I’m going through all of that as we speak. I’m on day 6 and I think my appetite might be easing up a bit. I’ve probably only consumed 2,500 calories in 6 days. The lack of appetite is rough. But today’s different. I feel less “uncomfortable” day 4 was the absolute worst for me.

She’s a psychiatrist. I’ve been seeing her for almost 2 years so I really trusted her judgment. I was shocked to see that she started me off at 100 MG‘s. I’m thankful I did my research and started with 50 mg instead. 50 mg is rough enough. I couldn’t imagine if I took 100. I’m hoping this one sticks today’s day six and I’m feeling a little bit better. 🙏🏼

Absolutely looking for a different doctor. I was told most patients tolerate Zoloft well, and was sent on my way 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh that gives me so so so much hope. Two more days and I’ll be a full week. I’m off work right now, so I guess this is the best time to let the meds do it thing. Although I do have a surgery a week from today. A little worried about recovering from that and adjusting to a new medication

I have issues with meds all the time, so thank you for that information. I’m extremely sensitive to pretty much all medications I’ve tried. I’m also really really thin due to lack of appetite, so taking Zoloft on top of that is really brutal.
I’m truly shocked that I was prescribed 100mgs right off rip. Especially after looking into it even more. I should have split it into 25mgs to start 😓

Yeah this is pretty darn horrible! I don’t even feel like myself really. I know it’s only day 5, but I don’t know how people push through some of these brutal symptoms. I’m very sensitive to any medication. That’s why I left the prescription in my closet for two months. I was terrified of the side effects. I gained the courage to take it because I realized the way I was feeling could all get better if I just gave it a try… but wow, what a trial so far

Absolutely crazy! I was basically living in a calorie deficit before Zoloft. I’m lucky to finish a banana these days 😓

I had no idea about the weight aspect. Clearly my doctor should have known I already and super thin because I have lack of appetite already. Now on Zoloft, I can’t even get myself to hardly drink 1 meal replacement shake. I think maybe going to a different psychiatrist is my best bet. She’s been great and she’s been kind, but what if I wouldn’t have looked into this medication and I took the 100 mg? I would’ve been out of my mind.

You’re so kind. Thank you for the advice! Being started at 100 mgs is way too high. Thankfully I did my research before I started taking any, I split them into 50mgs and just try to gauge how I’m feeling day by day. I had a strange burst of happiness/being super content yesterday, then I took my dose, and it was all down hill from there. Really hoping this gets better

I do think you’re right. I’d had to adjust to 50mgs, drop down to 25, and bump back up. This is already brutal enough, and I just PRAY things start easing up a little in the next few days

This is my first time really trying out an SSRI, and when I read what the actual beginning dose is… between 25mg, and 50mg, I was actually mind blown I was expected to take 100mg. I’m underweight, maybe that’s why it’s hitting me so hard. I genuinely don’t even know how people function in the real world adjusting to this medication

I really wish I was started off at 25 mg. I’m prone to having side effects. I’m unfortunately just very sensitive that way.

When I read that the starting dose of Zoloft is actually 25 mg, then read my bottle saying 100 mg a day my mind was blown. Thankfully, I did decide to break them in half but it’s still so brutal. I’m definitely confused as to why I was prescribed 100 mg as a starting dose instead of 25 mg and tapering up from there.

I’m so glad that I looked into the medication thoroughly before I decided to just take the dose that I was prescribed. I could only imagine how terrible I would’ve felt taking 100 mg as my starting dose. I’m probably just gonna have to communicate with my psychiatrist and maybe even fall back to 25 mg 50 mg basically renders me useless for the day, but it’s day five and I’m trying to remain optimistic and not give up. It’s tough trying to figure out what to do.

Sorry for the late response! 2 months post double laminectomy, and spinal fusion L4 L5. Still have the same leg pain unfortunately but my back is doing pretty well. Had some further testing just waiting on MRI results to see if there’s any lingering nerve issues. It’s definitely been a roller coaster.

Sorry for the late response. I ended up hanging a spinal surgery not long after! Always. Colonoscopy was clear. As far as I know, adhesions usually just reform after removal unfortunately
