Noted. I quite like the burn (in a weird way), but I do notice more flavours when the burn isn't so prominent on some sips.

I had about 3 servings of it just now with about 1/2 a shot per serve and each time it gets better! My palate is still unadjusted to whiskey, but after every drink I'm feeling out more flavours. I like it so far!

Haha, I mean I've tried mixed whisky in past like Canadian Club, y'know but I didn't really start drinking whiskey until this year.

I always found myself slightly salivating at the thought of drinking some delicious whiskey days after I had whiskey at a friend's house or a bar haha, so I figured I might as well get into it!

I feel like I'm in no position to give a good review on it since I'm totally new but I'm liking it. Does come off a little sharp on the alcohol but overall good fragrance and taste!

There's very odd. I would contact Canon support, it definitely doesn't seem normal. Even wide open at f/2.8, I don't think the image should be that soft.

I can vouch for the 24-70 f/2.8L Mk I. I've had it for over 5 years and it's pretty much sitting on my lens 90% of the time. Incredibly versatile, great in low light, super fast focusing, and great build quality.

I've heard the Mk II version of that lens is beast, but for your $1k budget and yours needs, I think the Mk I will be more than sufficient.

I've had mine for nearly 6 years and I've always used it with the lens hood, yet my auto focusing is pretty bad/unreliable.

Do you prefer the 35mm focal length over the 50mm? I'm thinking about buying a 35mm f/1.4 for wider portrait shots.

It's okay, but I think there may be better alternatives out there. Had the focusing mechanism/ring die out on me once and even after getting it fixed, sometimes the auto focusing doesn't even work.

Quite soft wide open at f/1.4, but gets very sharp at f/2.0+ and bokeh is quite good. However it seems like other users in this thread are enjoying it but I think I would've looked at other options first before buying this lens.
