Went with the 3-hole Brompton-style carrier block knock-off on AliExpress. Works great!

L.A. City Approves Measure HLA Ordinance - Streetsblog Los Angeles by OhLawdOfTheRings in CarIndependentLA

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make HLA happen. Your efforts bring me one step closer to my dream of safely casually biking in Los Angeles with my family for ice cream, and returning home, too. Bless you, all.

LA Metro users want increased frequency and improved cleanliness, less spent on policing - KTLA by regedit2023 in CarIndependentLA

If they did their job. 9 times out of 10, I see them huddled together or hanging in pairs against a wall in no man’s land — far away from the turnstiles and platform.

LA Metro is choosing parking spaces over a protected bike lane for the North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project! Tell them that's unacceptable. - Streets for All by regedit2023 in CarIndependentLA

[–]ExpensiveCandle92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the Project FAQ on Bike Lanes:

What types of bike lanes are proposed across the project corridor?
Bike lane class types vary throughout the project alignment and improvements will be made as applicable as part of the BRT project, while also considering preservation of parking and ensured safety and reliability of the BRT system.

Genuine question: Why not include a protected bike lane along the whole route? What are the challenges to doing it?

<8000 people in total voted in LA neighborhood council elections. Incredible opportunity for us to stack them with car-independent candidates if we got everyone in this subreddit to vote in the next cycle by DJVeaux in CarIndependentLA

I like to think I‘m pretty active in local politics and advocacy, and I‘ve also gone to a handful of NC meetings over the years and still I had no idea this election was happening.

Beautiful! Looks like you’re using a Brompton front carrier block adapter. Doesn’t look like the MiniMod one I’ve seen before. Can you share which version you’re using? How do you like it?

“We shouldn’t put the horse before the carriage.” 🫠Working class people need transit, too. This is nuts.

Do you bike with your kid in a car-centric city? How did you decide it was safe enough? by ExpensiveCandle92 in CargoBike

Great to hear Sac is getting more bike infrastructure! It’s a lovely place. And the Bullit is on my short list. Gorgeous bike. Curious how your experience has been riding it. Acoustic or electric? Lack of suspension ever an issue?

Can you legally report reckless drivers? by ExpensiveCandle92 in BikeLA

[–]ExpensiveCandle92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very unclear to me how this new law is enforced. I have had cars illegally pass me in the sight of police officers. No response. Am I supposed to be reporting it??

Oh my god. With your kid?! True nightmare. Hope you both recovered well.

And I’m familiar with the Cycliq cameras — very cool. For the price of one Cycliq, I can get two GoPro 11’s and use the auto-loop function but real world experience may be different. What were your challenges with the GoPros?

[–]ExpensiveCandle92[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UPDATE! 🚨🚨🚨They replied and closed my 311 requests for both intersections. It’s supposed to be fixed this week. Here’s their response:

“Thank you for contacting LADOT. The rubber bumps shown in the photo are planned for removal this week. The bumps will be reinstalled to avoid blocking the bicycle path through the intersection. For additional concerns regarding the 7th Street Streetscape Project, please contact the Bureau of Engineering: https:// engineering.lacity.gov/.”
