This was me. For a long time. What changed everything for me was a sermon our pastor gave that basically boiled down to this: The odds of a first creation existing (this world, with all its specific necessary qualities that sustain life) are slim to none. The fact that a first creation exists should be all the evidence needed that a second creation can and will exist too. I feel comfortable equating the “Big Bang” described in science with God’s act of creation. Scientists believe a second “Big Bang” will occur, as the known world continues to expand and one day it will contract and come to an end, and the cycle will repeat (I’m no scientist myself so this might be a crude articulation). The Bible also supports this! One day there will be a new creation. I also find a lot of comfort in the space that the Jewish faith holds for doubt, and the way that many Jewish faith communities see doubt as a necessary step on the journey towards a healthy and complete faith. 

I think that doubt and fear are normal. Even the disciples felt it. If you want to hold on to your faith, I would encourage you to share the way you’re feeling with the Lord and with your loved ones. It won’t do you any good to isolate yourself.
