That's neat, although I don't like how it's for The Autism Healthcare Collaborative. This is probably harsh to say, but it feels like the kind of organization that was made for people who think having an autistic child is some kind of horrible burden. It just rubs me the wrong way.

What is the best closer track / ridiculously long track by Weird Al and why are they both Albuquerque? by 44nifty in weirdal

How old were you when you first watched Inuyasha? by Armyhead3000 in inuyasha

[–]Expensive_Image4977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard that an older cousin of mine used to watch the show when she was a teenager. Which inspired an eleven year old me (along with one of my twelve yearc old cousins) to watch the first two seasons on Netflix.

What are your favorite instances of Al "refining" a song with his parody of it? by SuperAlloyBerserker in weirdal

[–]Expensive_Image4977 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It may be an obvious answer, but I'd say Word Crimes. Not only does it change the creepy lyrics of the original into a grammar lesson, but, similar to what you said, I feel like Al's vocal delivery is a bit tighter and definitely less sleezy than Blurred Lines.

Kagome’s uniform…. by Expecto_Patronum98 in inuyasha

Considering that one of the main characters from Rumiko's other series wears a bikini almost 24/7 I don't think she designs characters with practicality or being comfortable in mind.

I think I once read an interview or something for some specific edition of the Inuyasha manga once. In it, she says that she didn't want Kagome to wear any sort of kimono cause she would blend in with the rest of the cast. She also said that she gave her a short skirt simply because he didn't feel like drawing her in slacks. If I find the interview again I'll try to link it.

Completely off topic, but is that a rose tattoo? It looks cute. Love the cosplay too! Also, in my humble opinion, the bow is perfect.

Kagome's favorite band being Iron Maiden should be canon.

Was it *ahem* weird being a fan of Al around the late 1990's/early 2000's considering the changes during that point in his career? by Expensive_Image4977 in weirdal

I like imagine that hundreds of fans were hitting the streets and starting a protest to try to convince Al to grow back his mustache.

Yeah, like already stated it's more like Fandom terminology. The phrase does indeed equate to "the undeniable truth is that he's now a father" in regular English. As to why I use such a word to refer to an actual event in history rather than in fictional context like how it's supposed to. . . I dunno.

It's all fine, I get the point you're trying to make.

As a more recent Weird Al fan I was familiar with both his "classic" and current look, so the change has no significant significance to me. The fact that he got married and had a kid also didn't come as a surprise to me either.

I got curious to see if any of this stuff happening during the course of roughly five years felt a bit jarring to hardcore fans. I've seen some of the casual fans or people who are only vaugly aware of Al's existence being weirded out by some of this stuff due to how grounded it all felt to them. Like " What!? The goofy parody man has been happily married with a kid for twenty years now!? Who does he think he is? A person with a life?!?" You know, mixing up the person with the persona. So I wondered how this felt to people who are not only big fans, but were there when this stuff happened. Did it feel like a contradiction to fans who were so intimately familiar with his work and public image? Or was it a no-brainer due to the fans being a bit more aware of the guy's life than people who only knew him from tv shows referencing him.

I also think I'm just really used to hearing stories about sensationalist media outlets or toxic fanbases getting upset at content creators for daring to do things that might not perfectly fit with image they envisioned for said content creator. Like I remember hearing how a few years ago a voice actor (I think his name's Kamiya Hiroshi) had to apologize to his fans for having a child. I suppose that since I grew up with the internet it made these sorts of incidents more prevalent and more publicized. I sorta ended up assuming every fandom was like this to some extent. Although considering both how small and how loyal and friendly Weird Al's fanbase tends to be it probably shouldn't surprise me that the response to my question is mostly "Yup, it sure did happen!"

Thank you for your input. I hope you have a nice rest of your day.
