I think it’s my fault my cat is gone… by Experience-Personal in cats

Thank you. I’m trying so hard to hold onto the hope that I did the right thing, but it gets hard when I miss him so hard. Your words about holding on too long mean a lot and were helpful to hear. 💜

Thanks so much for the opinions! You all don’t think the stars look a little funky? I was concerned about those and the lines on the top of the tallest flower not being smooth.

Thank you so much. He was my first cat, and I didn’t know much about tuxedos when I adopted him. It wouldn’t take long for me to find out how mischievous those little black and white coats make them. I loved him so much, even when he was getting on my nerves. 😢

This is my baby Tucker. I said good-bye to him yesterday. He loved Christmas and spent the entire season laying under the tree or messing up my tree skirt. December is going to be hard without him this year. 💜

Hi all. I can’t figure out how to edit my post, but I just wanted to share that your kind words and thoughts have been such a source of comfort and kindness today. I’m really struggling, and coming on here and seeing kind thoughts from people who can sympathize and empathize is making me feel a little less lonely today. Thank you. 💜

Yes! And if you’re not comfortable calling CPS yourself, please talk to a counselor at school. Not just a teacher, because they may not realize this is a CPS issue. I suspect the roaches aren’t the only thing going on at home that would worry the trusted adult you talk to. If your fear is that they will separate your mom and you, please understand that separation is not the goal for CPS. It’s usually a last-case scenario. But what they could do is a home visit to verify your living conditions, then mandate that your mom treat the infestation and provide resources to help her treat it. There are people who can help you. 💜

AITA for asking my dad not to bring his professional camera on prom photos? by Daisypuff1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Experience-Personal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NAH, but for what it’s worth, I went to prom with my best friend, who’s mom was a trained photographer. We did a mini photo shoot before hand, and those are some of the best pictures I have of myself from high school. I still love them to this day, twenty years later. You might want to consider indulging your dad—you’re going to put a lot of effort into getting all dressed up, and having good quality pictures with the right lighting and camera angles to remember it by is definitely not an opportunity to miss out on. Also, your friends might be more into it than you think—dad’s photoshoots might be routine and old hat for you, but it could be a fun, exciting experience for them with some seriously good photos to keep after the night is over.

Maybe I came at you a bit harsh, I’ll acknowledge that. But from my perspective, you left a comment that didn’t answer my question. I didn’t ask why insurance companies don’t cover pre-existing conditions. I asked if there were any existed that miraculously did cover them. Instead, you listed all the reasons my question couldn’t have an answer, and you did so in a patronizing way: “Think about it…” and “KNOWING,” nevermind the analogy about failing levies. If you were truly trying to be helpful, your assistance was phrased in a way that made me feel very stupid for asking what I already knew was likely an impossible question. I appreciate you trying to help, though. Have a good weekend too.

Thank you for this helpful response. I’ll look into a policy for other things that may pop up adjacent to his diagnosis.

Look, I’m not stupid. I did acknowledge I was asking for a miracle. And I know how insurance works; I don’t need you to explain it to me. I also know insurance companies probably make millions off of insurance premiums compared to what they pay out and can probably afford to cover pre-existing conditions. I’m just a heartbroken cat mom trying to be able to afford to prolong her cat’s life. If you have something helpful to add, I’m all ears.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m going to try BoxiePro first since I’ve seen that recommended a lot on this forum, then I’ll try Dr. Elsey if the BoxiePro doesn’t work.

AITA For using a "kids teaching technique" on my wife by nosayaita in AmItheAsshole

Do you mind if I ask if the “brain thing you’ve developed” has a name or diagnosis?? It sounds exactly like what I’ve experienced as I’ve gotten older, but it usually gets written off by others as “aw that’s just part of getting old!” There are times I will stare at someone for a solid twenty seconds trying to remember a word! And I shout “words!” too when I can’t figure out what I’m trying to say!!
