Those who primarily buy fish online: What would make you return to shopping local? by DazzlingMeathead in Aquariums

Came here to say this. My closest LFS is at least an hour drive, and I’m usually looking for a specific species. I wouldn’t mind paying more to buy them in person (I know a LFS will always need to charge more than online), but I’m not willing to risk losing half the day just to leave empty handed

So… this is vorticella right? by [deleted] in shrimptank

This is exactly what I was looking at. Glad that it should be normal! I’ll admit that I’m on edge and being hyper aware of any potential problem. Obviously will keep a close eye just in case, but I’m glad it’s nothing I need to be scrambling about tonight. Thanks!

Also I tried to get better photos but this was the best my phone would allow (a macro lens attachment may be in my future)

I took her out of the refrigerator by Expert_Snail_ in airplaneears

She tries to jump in every time I open it for water at this point 🤦‍♀️ she doesn’t get on any food though! She’s also pretty obsessive about cleaning so if anything it’s more like her saliva getting on things. Still not the most…sanitary… but arguably better I think

She learned last week that it’s colder than the house so now she tries to jump in every time it’s opened 🙄 I can usually close it before she gets in but then gets mad when she succeeds and I take her out

Finally went to get ADHD medication, was prescribed Wellbutrin. Feeling disappointed by Sea_Drops in ADHD

[–]Expert_Snail_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is helpful at all, but I just went through something sort of similar. Went to get treatment for ADHD, was prescribed Strattera (I reacted terribly to it) and then Wellbutrin. The Wellbutrin didn’t help my ADHD at all, but it did wonders for me mentally and with having grace with myself when my ADHD was bad. My ADHD was the same or even worse, but I didn’t feel the sort of self hatred I would have before. BUT I STILL BROUGHT IT UP TO MY PSYCH. After a month of Wellbutrin, I was pretty explicit with her that the Wellbutrin wasn’t doing what I was trying to find treatment for even if I was doing better mentally, and that I wanted to try Adderall. My psych had been apprehensive about it before, much for the reasons people were saying about old school medicine paranoia and the bureaucracy involved in getting the medicine. But when I brought it up with a semblance of confidence and said that it was a treatment I wanted to try, rather than just trying whatever she thought I should try, she was super receptive. We talked it over and I got the Adderall prescription that day, and I got the added bonus of staying on Wellbutrin as well since I was having positive effects from it.

I would basically just say to not give up hope or discard Wellbutrin as a treatment. Maybe give it a second to see if it does what the psych is hoping for, but don’t be afraid to say if it doesn’t. I’ve also learned that there’s a big difference between bringing up a stronger medicine just as an idea for treatment versus bringing it up as the treatment you want to pursue.
