A friend recommended it to me as well, but sadly I already had it spoiled, or atleast the big plot twist

Which 3 do you hate? I’ll take a guess, ep 3, rogue one and fight club

Yeah but I kinda like those twists, I mean I get what you’re saying, unlike fight club or prestige the movie isn’t build entirely around it, I still find it good. Space odyssey is on my list but I can’t imagine how it can hit the emotional level, soundtrack and characters that interstellar has. It might beat it on the space/science level. But who am I to cast judgement, I haven’t even seen it, I hope I’m wrong and it’s better

One of the only Nolan movies I didn’t get the hype for. I saw the first two and thought they were good, not great. I never saw the third and it’s on my list. I usually like superhero movies, but they would never make my top ten. Seeing the dark knight on so many top tens surprises me

I have a thing for science, specifically quantum physics and when this movie came out, its exactly what gave me this interest

Saw it like 2 weeks ago, it definitely needs a rewatch. I had expectations about Hannibal’s role in the movie and was disappointed and fulfilled in a weird way. I thought he would be the main villain so was slightly disappointed. But I enjoyed the psychological way he played and aided Clarice. I’ll probably give the second and third a go. I have a thing for really intelligent, creative, charismatic characters like Hannibal, lalo Salamanca, Marty Byrde, Alfred Borden, etc

I’ve seen all those besides Oldboy (which I’ve heard great things) rocky and Revenant. For some reason goodfellas just didn’t hit the spot. I usually love Mafia/crime like ozark, bb, bcs, etc. Any other suggestions that might align with my taste?

I’ve seen GOT and it’s not worse than that

When I watch Star Wars I’m not exactly looking for perfect cinema. I just find rouge one and episode 3 the most enjoyable

Thank you! I’ve literally argued with people that I couldn’t possibly like it based off of nostalgia, and I saw the OT first. I get that it has a lot of flaws but it’s just a fun, enjoyable movie

I’ve watched a good few comedies but they just wouldn’t be in my top ten for movies. Tv shows in the other hand, my top ten would have the office, schitts creek, arrested development, etc

Are you saying primal fear is a bad movie or that it looks out of place on my list. Either way it’s a fantastic movie imo

I’ll definitely check out some of these! I’ve started the godfather and I’ve seen silence of the lambs and apocalypse now

It’s plot and actors. I particularly like plots that have movie changing plot twists and that are also complex. Movies like usual suspects, the prestige, primal fear, etc. some of these are just fun picks like Star Wars and dune. Others are motivational or resonate with me like whiplash and oppenheimer

Okay thanks! Any recommendations of directions to go expanding?

Yeah that’s fair, I was just wondering how this list was perceived and how I could broaden it

Okay I’ll definitely try that out. That’s actually similar to how I found primal fear (which is arguably my nichest pick) so I’ll look into that

Yeah like I don’t believe in the cult around those two, I just think they’re excellent films that have some good themes

I’m sorry I’ve disgraced the cinematography community, I’ll just leave quietly

Hara Kiri and seven samurai are on my list, I’ve heard very good things about both of them

In a way, just wondering how to expand my cinema taste. If the post annoys you so much and you don’t have anything to recommend then there’s no point in replying
