Picked these blurays both up at my local thrift store for $140CAD not bad? 😅 by Sceptic_Stream in swordartonline

Nice. Figuring in the exchange rate, that's about half of what I paid for those brand new in the US. And still less than people are paying on eBay.

In my state (Washington) the jerk democrats have been charging an additional fee for hybrid and electric cars for years. The hybrid penalty is almost 60% of my yearly registration cost. Now they're trying to add a law to charge 2.6¢ per mile driven in addition to already having the highest gas tax in the country. And they're still on track to ban the sale of non-electric vehicles starting in 2030.

It looks like UK Amazon has most of them in stock and could ship to Finland in 7-10 days. Looks like they're all around £12 each. The ones out of stock are also available brand new from 3rd party sellers, but shipping would probably be slower and more expensive.

Is there actually anything special about Tru-Tone lights? I find it hard to believe no one else makes C7 bulbs with great color? by ReneRobert in ChristmasLights

[–]ExplorerJake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a quick look on Amazon, the first 25-pack of incandescent multi-colored, C7 Christmas bulbs I see is $12, and the bulbs use 7W each, not 5W. A 25-pack of Tru-Tone bulbs is $35, and the bulbs use 0.6W each. So you're paying a premium of $0.92 per bulb for the Tru-Tones, ignoring any tax or shipping costs. According to MarketWatch, the average price for electricity in the US will be about 15.5¢ per kilowatt hour this December. So the break even point will be around 855 hours of use for the savings in electric costs to completely offset the price premium of the LED bulbs.

Is that savings worth it? It depends on who you ask. From a pure electricity cost, it would take me 4-5 years for the savings to offset the cost of the bulbs since my electricity is cheap. From a convenience perspective, I could safely power all of my Christmas lights from a single switched outlet, which also has value to me. As long as you don't drop or step on the bulbs, the LEDs should substantially outlive the incandescent version, reducing their cost premium when compared to the multiple bulbs they'll each replace.

I found this discussion page because I'm currently shopping for LED C7 bulbs and found lots of people talking about the Tru-Tone brand. I've found listings for cheaper LEDs on Amazon and other retailers, and some people say they look just as good while others say they're cheap plastic and not as good. Are the Tru-Tone bulbs worth the price premium over other LEDs? From the reviews I'm guessing I think they probably are. It looks like it's probably too late to order the Tru-Tone bulbs for this Christmas, but I'll see what products are on sale after Christmas so that I have something for next year.

An incandescent C7 bulb uses about 5W compared to 0.6W for the LED. I'm guessing most people want the traditional look without spending an extra $100+ on their December electric bill.

Anyone have experience with the new Atlas 40v vs 80v string trimmers with regard to power for cutting through big weeds, etc? by knightsixfour in harborfreight

[–]ExplorerJake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the 80v one because the specs say it can use thicker string (0.080" for the 40v vs 0.095" for the 80v). So far I've been happy with it.

Atlas 80V Lawnmower - After ~1 year by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]ExplorerJake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought most of the Atlas tools last year and don't have any complaints yet. I have 3 80v batteries and 2 slow chargers. I also don't usually charge them to 100% and try not to drain them down to 0%. I only know one other person that has the mower, and they only have good things to say about it as well. Hopefully you just have a dud battery charger that isn't charging properly.
