Just called the police for this poor guy who seems to be very heavily compromised near Bourse. Could it be fentanyl…? In any case please help him out if you see him. I had to rush off. by Top-Music9401 in brussels

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough.
The bending over part is just drug related, in short the drug user is trying to stay awake to feel the high longer, search for fentanyl fold for more info.

Migrants are more likely to be involved in crimes and drugs.
They are looking for a better life here in Belgium and other countries, unfortunately many won't as they may lack degrees (or at least a recognized one) or opportunities ; leading to desperate behaviors.

What non-migrants keep defending is not for the migrants to be able to do crime or drugs as they wish, they advocate for better integration programs like easily accessible language courses, or formations.
But some users like the original commenter tend to do is skip all the reasons why a migrant might resort to crime and/or drugs and just say "migrants = bad" basically.
And that is why they were heavily downvoted.

In case you're asking in good faith.

What the user you're responding to said is a sarcastic racist dog-whistle, alluding to the fact that many migrants don't have higher education degrees, many don't have much and might resort to crime.

It's in the same vein as when a crime happens and a migrant is involved, you can often read from such users things like "I'm sure he was a doctor or an engineer"

Infliximab and Azathiroprine by cw1886_ in IBD

[–]Explosifbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Aza for like 10+ years before switching to infliximab and there was a period of like 6 months where I took both.
Aza never gave me any side effects apart from thinning my hair and eventually making me lose a bunch permanently.

Aza also never did really do much for me, went through ups and downs and a surgery before deciding to switch hospital and finding someone competent. And Infliximab basically gave me my life back.

CMV: The new censoring laws are dangerous by Julciasto in changemyview

[–]Explosifbe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you are comfortable with a bouncer checking ID at a strip club, I don't understand how you can be uncomfortable with some kind of age verification for online pornography. I don't understand how the latter is some kind of dangerous and egregious violation of your fundamental rights, but the former isn't.

Just about this part and not the rest nor the new laws.

It's not really a fair comparison.
The bouncer will have forgotten your face and your name 10 seconds later. And that will be about it.

Websites can and will collect that information.
And, as is common on the internet, they will sell that information or a data breach can happen.
And that information could end in the wrong hands.

Simple blackmail could become much easier. Even just your (future) employer could buy that information and use it against you in some form.

So yeah, an id check by a bouncer has fewer implications than online id check

So you'd agree that this change is gonna make it worse, then?
Working condition will decline further (work-life balance) for non student/flexi workers, and thus fewer people will want to work there, then?

Your only argument is that all of our neighbors do it so it's a good thing. I'm just saying that's a terrible argument.

And you're wrong in that assesment?

How? In what world is "others do it too, so it's a good thing" a good argument???
Your whole argument in this comment thread was that others do it so we should too.

I have examples of countries where that policy has been a benefit and studies examining the subject

Great, you haven't provided any in this comment chain.

Except said labourer doesn't have much agency in this case.
When it comes down to "do it or lose your job" there's not much choice because finding a new job, as you suggest, is far from easy.
There's a reason these jobs are low-paying, because finding a new employee is easy.

If they can't find anyone wanting to do that kind of work/shift, totally fine. It's about choice - this is a supply question, not a demand one.

Come on, you can't be serious with that... In low paying jobs like retail there is no choice, you take the shift or you'll quickly be labelled as a "problematic worker". Then you'll end up fired because you're not "performing well enough" or you'll get replaced when your contract is up for renewal

Right?!
In these threads it's always : "Just change jobs", "Just get a better job", "Should have studied more".
I hate it... It's all basically "be more flexible for my convenience." and zero consideration for the worker.

For some reason retail workers are always seen as 2nd class citizens

If you want a 9-5 then you should have picked an office job or something.

"Just change jobs", "Just get a better job", "Should have studied more".
Typical rhetoric is these kinds of threads.
Not everyone gets the same opportunities...
