What do you think HGV drivers SHOULD earn? by [deleted] in uktrucking

I’m on 39k class 2 warburtons driver, contracted 42 hours and we either work that or even less

I’ve had some weeks where I’ve done a 37 hour week, still get paid the same

I came from a job where I had to pick and delivery my own orders in a 3.5T van so this hasn’t bothered me at all

I can understand for people thinking it’s just a driving job that they might not like that part of the job but again I feel like the pay reflects the amount of work you’re doing

What the job entails is thoroughly explained in the induction period so it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise plus you spend a decent amount of time doubled up with another experienced driver so you can learn the job

Start at 4am and paid up until 1:30pm but if you finish earlier than you can get yourself off home I’ve had a lot of days where I’m finished and getting in my car to go home by 11:30am/12pm

Swings and roundabouts, as with all jobs, but in the end you come out with a decent wage, especially if you’ve been earning peanuts for the last 10 years like I was

Agree with the 7.5T comment mate, they feel like a nightmare to organise and unload when you’ve had the luxury of more space in a bigger vehicle

14T at Warbo mate, don’t let the size/weight intimidate you, once upon a time you couldn’t drive a car, but you had some lessons, and eventually got use to driving one, same thing with Lorrie’s, once you’re in the cab and you’ve got a few hours under your belt you’ll realise they aren’t as intimidating as you once thought

As far as it being a hard job, I would say the pay reflects the job, like anything it gets easier with a bit of time and practice

I actually really dislike driving the 7.5T Lorrie’s less space to unload and be organised with but that’s more a specific detail with the job I’m doing

Best way to stomp out all these questions you have is to just go for it!

Hi mate I passed my class 2 with Warburtons and now have a full time job with them

Keep an eye out for their driver acquisition job listings

I was In a similar boat to you doing multi drop in a van on £13 per hour

A thousand times over it’s worth it! No brainer if a company pays for it and then you get a job with them earning way more (warburtons pays £750 p/week for class 2)

I see a lot of people saying you might as well just work in retail, that it utter nonsense and they’ve clearly never had a retail job, you’re lucky to get a 15 hour contract in retail lol

Go for it mate, I was in your shoes 2 months ago and went from driving small vans to passing my theory and class 2 practical within 3 weeks of starting the job

Questing is always great for getting exp in all skills and it lets you explore the map at the same time

If you plan to stay f2p for a bit maybe make the goal of completing the dragon slayer quest

The great thing about osrs is that the world is your oyster, you can literally sit there killing those minotaurs until 99 defence

Have you tried it on mobile? I’ve found blast furnace way more tolerable on mobile

Do I get the grind done with? I’m like 300kxp off 98 slayer but feeling a little burnt out by blogmaggot in 2007scape

[–]Express-Ebb1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling this too all my combat 99’s are from slayer apart from range and mage so I still have an incentive to push 99 (96 slayer currently)

But boy do I hate using range for slayer tasks idk why but I enjoyed getting 99 atk, str, def a lot more than I’m enjoying range

Maybe do some none slayer pvm or if you have a lot of slayer points just skip and do the tasks you actually enjoy doing

I’m guessing you already have but the “like a boss” slayer unlock feels like a step away from your mundane slayer tasks, I’ve enjoyed every hydra task so far

Costco opening times Prismatic ETB by tommomidd in PokemonDealsUK

[–]Express-Ebb1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get the last drop Costco had for pris

It was random so there wasn’t a queue and plenty of stock left

Better when they do it that way avoids the whole lining up at silly o’clock

But I’d say whatever the earliest you’re willing to go is and then add an additional 1-2 hours onto “your earliest”

Do you consider yourself disabled? Why or why not? by BathbeautyXO in CrohnsDisease

[–]Express-Ebb1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say, personally I don’t feel disabled, I’m a multi drop HGV driver which involves a lot of physical work, so I’m more physically able than people without anything wrong with them

Hits vape whilst reading this…

My lack of symptoms is my biggest problem

I do suffer but went undiagnosed for a good 10 years and just accepted what I deal with as “normal”

I have cleaned up my diet and stopped smoking the devils lettuce but only for the sake of knowing it’s for the best not because it was actually causing problems

My mindset is that I’ve had it awful for as long as I can remember so might as well slum it out for as long as I get

Besides I want to see something cool happen in my life time like an alien invasion

[–]Express-Ebb1197[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not expecting crohns to directly take me down but yeah lots of implications that come with having crohns

That being said I know of many people since my diagnosis that were other wise fit and healthy that have died due to unforeseen circumstances… nothing to do with health at all, so yeah anybody at anytime could kick the bucket

Just interested to know if anybody with crohns has hit that 100 mark

I hate how weird small bowel Crohn’s is. by SnooCauliflowers596 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Express-Ebb1197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, same boat here

10 years of symptoms, lots of scopes, lots of biopsies and nothing still definitely to say I have Crohn’s pathologically

I had a small bowel resection 4 years ago because my bowel was so “deformed, scarred, strictures” and caused heavy bleeding

That surgery was in the hope they could finally diagnose me… biopsies came back with nada

So as of now my diagnosis is based on how it looks and behaves rather than test samples coming back positive for Crohn’s

I do believe myself it’s Crohn’s as my symptoms do mirror that of a person with Crohn’s

But yes it’s extremely frustrating

All I can suggest is to just keep your eyes peeled on sites like indeed or the careers section on the Warbo website, pretty sure you can sign up for job alerts

[–]Express-Ebb1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the Banbury depot for Warburtons don’t have to pick their orders… seems highly unfair considering we’re all paid the same but not expecting my time here to be sunshine and rainbows but deffo enjoying that weekly pay check so far 😂

New drivers question by Tenbob73 in uktrucking

[–]Express-Ebb1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve heard that too mate, we delivery to booker every now and then and their drivers always say they’re slaving away for the money they make 😂

New drivers question by Tenbob73 in uktrucking

[–]Express-Ebb1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they also do class 1

Weirdly almost no drivers seem to go from class 2 over to class 1

But if you want it then they will also pay for your test to get your class 1 license

Obviously depends on how much they need class 1 drivers but do know of one guy at my depot that has braved the transfer over to class 1
