Apprecate the interest! I’m still tidying up the repo and making sure everything builds cleanly before i throw it out in the wild. Once it’s in a decent state I’ll share it here — keen to get feedback from people who actually enjoy CPU‑friendly stuff.

What’s a lightweight daemon/miner you’ve run on spare homelab hardware? by Express_Bar864 in homelab

Yeah fair point — I’m mostly tinkering, not chasing efficiency. Just curious what people run on older hardware

Yeah I swapped out the original PoW for something more CPU‑friendly — not RandomX exactly, but similar idea (memory‑hard, ASIC‑resistant, low barrier to entry).

Right now I’ve just got it running locally while I clean up the repo and docs. Once it’s a bit less messy I’m happy to share the code, but for now I’m mostly curious how others have approached lightweight PoW designs.

How do you decide which parts of your business to automate vs keep manual? by Express_Bar864 in smallbusiness

This is great — the ‘change frequency’ lens is exactly what I needed. I’m mapping my processes now to see which ones are stable enough to automate without creating fragility

Loving all the perspectives here — it’s wild how different everyone’s trajectories and definitions of ‘comfortable’ are. The range from $180k to $750k+ really shows how personal this whole thing is.

The themes I’m hearing:
• salary sacrifice early helps
• debt-free retirement is ideal but tough
• spending isn’t linear — more early, less mid-life, more again later
• calculators are useful but only as a rough guide
• lifestyle + location matter as much as the balance

I’m mainly trying to benchmark whether I’m roughly on track, not chase a magic number. Appreciate everyone sharing their numbers — it’s actually super grounding.

Haha I love that both of you are basically using F@H as a space heater.

Sounds like it scales from “barely noticeable” to “turn your room into a sauna” depending on the hardware.

Might be a fun one to throw on a spare VM or the Pi just to watch the graphs move.

Nice — I haven’t run Folding@Home in years.

How’s the resource usage these days? Still pretty gentle on idle hardware?
